That's what my son kept calling this butterfly ornament as he was trying to reach up and grab it off of the hook it was hanging from. When I turned around to stop him (from traumatizing the store workers), I thought, wow that is a pretty sight. So he and I decided to share it with you. :)

For March's Monthly Scavenger Hunt
A desperate attempt to get in another MSH category. I think the weekend is going to hold a major brainstorming session!
Today I received some moo cards in the post from the lovely fre_natae.
Target: SH2-129 OU4 Flying Bat and Squid Nebulae
The Flying Bat and the Squid Nebula are challenging targets to capture. Despite being over 6 times the size of the full moon the light given off by ionized hydrogen (Red) and the ionized oxygen Blue/Green it is extremely faint. I imaged over 3 nights in order to collect the equivalent of an 19.5 hour image. Due to being in the suburbs of Houston, it took a lot of effort in processing to pull the squid out of the light polluted background. One year I'll image this again from darker skies to pull more detail from the squid.

No real story behind this one… Wanted to try something a little darker using makeup. I've noticed a softness when zoomed in over 135 mm on my 80-200 mm lens. After doing some research, there is softness because of the D90...
