I first saw Michelle with her children, one in a a stroller, the other holding her hand. They were waiting in line, and the trio appeared to be any other mother and kids out for the afternoon. Then I noticed Michelle's arm. I stopped. Each arm was tattooed, along with her neck and chest.
"I love your tattoos," I exclaimed.
"Thanks," she smiled shyly as her children squirmed.
"It is so neat to see a woman with a whole sleeve of old school ink. Would you mind if I took a picture of them?" I ventured.
"They're not finished," she replied.
"Doesn't matter to me," I said. "You're just too cool to pass up." Michelle blushed as she agreed. She stepped out of line and I asked her to place her hand on her shoulder to better display the ink. I shot several frames as she kept an eye on her youngsters. I thanked her and asked if she ever modeled. She laughed and said no. I gave her my card anyway and she returned to her waiting children.
As I later looked through the images, the background was cluttered and distracting. It did not show Michelle as I wanted, so I went directly to Gimp and began to layer and process the images. As I worked, I realized that these were not just photos of a woman with tattoos, but photos of a mother, and a damned cool mother at that. I changed my emphasis from the ink to the person. I think I captured that, and Michelle, if you find your photograph, I hope you like it.
So, how hip was Michelle? The line she was waiting in was for temporary tattoos for her children. Yeah, it pegged my coolometer too. Thank you Michelle, and if you ever change your mind about modeling, contact me. Michelle is the one hundred and thirteenth stranger in my 100 Strangers project. Over the course of the 14-day mission, the STS-113 crew and the Expedition Six crew combined to install the new P1 truss to the International Space Station, perform three spacewalks to outfit and activate the truss, and transfer supplies and equipment between the two spacecraft. Endeavour brought more than 2,500 pounds of material to the station.
Among the transfer were science experiments, the PCG-STES and PGBA returning to Earth and the PCG-STES Unit 10 moving onto the station.

We have had this little plant for more than a couple of years. It has only three little heart-shaped leaves and once a year (around Spring-time) this little flower appears. I can't remember what you call it - my wife is working and she would know (and that's why I am managing to get my photos done early) - but I know it is a plant!!
Have a wonderful day!

I'm in a Lynyrd Skynyrd mood today.
"Mama told me when I was young
Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say.
And if you do this
It will help you some sunny day.
Take your time... don't live too fast,
Troubles will come and they will pass.
Go find a woman
and you'll find love,
And don't forget son,
There is someone up above.
(chorus)
And be a simple kind of man.
Be something you love and understand.
Be a simple kind of man.
Wont you do this for me son,
If you can?
Forget your lust for the rich mans gold
All that you need is in your soul,
And you can do this if you try.
All that I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.
(chorus)
Boy, don't you worry... you'll find yourself.
Follow you heart and nothing else.
And you can do this if you try.
All I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.

113:365 - Bunched: I had this shot in mind upon seeing the theme this morning, and luckily the weather cooperated, bringing a decent example of the transistion to spring
One of my friends is leaving for Europe for an extended stay. I’ve been hanging out with them a lot more before they leave and meeting so many of their friends. Kaitee is one of those friends. We had the pleasure of meeting each other when her and my friend had planned to do a shoot. I was really tired that day, having already worked 8 hours by 2pm. I was tagging along to help out if need be. I ended up taking more photos than helping, but that’s usually how the photo shoots go with my friend.
The three of us headed to Crescent Beach, specifically Blackie Spit. The area is gorgeous, and I had it fresh in my mind since I had been filming there with Sebastien (111/365) over the past few days. Before the beginning I had the idea to grab an icecream cone and get some tumblr trendy shots, including the one you see here. It ended up dying Kaitee’s teeth blue, though luckily it wasn’t noticeable in the photos. I got a second wind around this point and began doing cartwheels while her and my friend finished up their shots. We planned to meet at the studio a bit later for a few last takes.
While they grabbed dinner, I set up the studio and got everything prepped. I had a shoot the next day with La Biosthetique and wanted to get the lighting just right. We nailed it in only a couple of shots and were almost finished. I tore down and that was the end of the day. I really enjoyed getting to meet yet another of my friend’s friends. Hopefully you’ll be able to see more of her in my upcoming projects, but we’ll see what happens!
