When I photographed Kath's Crucifix Orchid (also known as Fire-star Orchid and Rainbow Orchid) last year, she gave me a cutting which I potted. The cutting seemed to die off and I thought it had failed. Two months later a fresh stem came up and now we have flowers.

I visit from time to time. One of these days I will stay at the Ramada next to it and hopefully get a beautiful sunrise behind it.

She still is quite lovely and I can stare at her awhile and get lost in thought.

(I forgot to mention that I shot these three shots for HDR and also put on a ND filter to create longer shots for colour dimension. Processed in Photomatix and then enhanced some more in Lightroom 4.4)
