"Universally" acclaimed science fiction author Ray Bradbury makes a point during his talk. Mr. Bradbury shared his vision of the future at "Chronicling Mars," the 2008 Eaton Science Fiction Conference at UC Riverside. May 17, 2008. At left is the National Endownment for the Arts Chairman Dana Gioia. Gioia also spoke about the NEA inititiative "The Big Read," which is "designed to restore reading to the center of American culture. That sure sounds great to me! Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" is a featured novel in The Big Read. During the Eaton Conference program, Ray Bradbury was presentated with the first "Eaton Award for Lifetime Achievement in Science Fiction."

I also encountered Ray Bradbury about 30 years ago, in Palos Verdes. A passionate man, he spoke of love, of life, of creating the future together.
