Škoda 100 with some optical tuning, seen in Szolnok, Hungary - June 2010

I gave the children sparklers, to celebrate their role in getting to day 100. I love how unexcited they look ... the prospect of 265 days to go clearly does not thrill them!

This encounter actually happened a few days ago but I wanted to keep it back for my 100th as I really love it.

I'd arrived early for work and decided to spend 20 mins hunting for a suitable subject for the project.

I was walking up Greys Inn Road when I saw Tasha heading in the opposite way on the other side of the road. I crossed over and sped up to catch up with her as I really liked her style. She looked fantastic. The light and setting where she was was a tad rubbish so slowed a little and followed her for about three blocks having a little chuckle to myself and thinking of stalkers. As soon as I saw this door way up ahead I knew I had the spot so sped up to pass her with enough space to turn and stop her without startling her. This is a delicate operation that requires split second timing if one is to not startle the target. Luckily I got it right and Tasha was happy to help. I set her up in the door way, told her how I wanted her to stand and got cracking.

I am really happy with how these pictures came out and am very happy to include Tasha in the project as my 100th stranger (round 2).

So that concludes my second 100 Strangers project. I have learned so much and so enjoyed this. I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who's viewed my pictures and left comments. Thanks so much!

And of course a massive thank you to everyone who was kind enough to indulge me by putting on a brave face for the camera.

I had originally intended to take my time with this one but I find photographing strangers to be like a drug and once I get on a role I just want more and more. There are so many fantastic looking people around and I find myself wanting to shoot all of them.

What's next? I hope never to stop photographing people in the street though whether I'll continue posting to the group or not I’ve yet to decide. I love this group and the interaction with like minded peers but I wonder if the direction I'm heading is not moving away from the ethos of the 100 Strangers brief. I love doing write ups about each image and I definitely have great interactions with the people I photograph.

I am, however, completely focused on the photograph and am trying to make good visually appealing pictures. Learning about the person and getting 'their story' is not high on my agenda. With some people it seems natural to chat and a story comes out of that but in others, it is not. I’m not trying to be a photo journalist. I make my approach, explain the concept, put the person at ease, set them up the way I want and then make the photographs. I shoot in busy areas during busy times and I don't want to hold people up and nor do I want to miss another good opportunity so I tend to keep a lot of my interactions short and to the point. Though of course in some cases, I’ve ended up having a good long chat but I don’t push for it, I take it as it comes. Personal skills are an important aspect of people photography but chatting to people has never been my weak point.

I've been wondering lately whether this is entirely in keeping with the spirit of the project. I’d welcome your thoughts on the matter.

Constructive criticism gratefully received

Yay! I reached 100 days, I decided to go outside today for once.

I told Ms. Madden she didn't need to flex for my picture, so she did this great semi-casual semi-cheesecake pose that still shows off her muscles.

!00 strangers, 2/100 This is Sokhna: A Phd student studying in Victoria BC. I met Sokhana while she was taking a picture of my home, actually some chairs on our front porch that I found on the boulevard and painted to match our house. I asked if I could take her picture and she agreed to sit on one of the chairs she was photographing. Sokhna is from Senegal and is studying cocoa production on the Ivory Coast. I never imagined that when I purchased my favourite chocolate bar, that I might be contributing to the deforestation of an African country. As it turns out, Sokhna is not a stranger to my wife but a member of the CFUW Canadian Federation of University Women, and they had previously met at a Christmas lunch. Sokhna is on her way home to the Ivory Coast soon and I wish her well saving out planet one chocolate bar at a time. I will learn more about this issue and do my best to make it better. www.flickr.com/photos/nwinspeare/51837216777/in/pool-100s...

the only thing that looks good on me....is YOU !!!!

Bouyed by my success with stranger #1 (Dean) Darren here didn't stand a chance :)

Darren was minding the base of a large motorised "cherry picker" and directing pedestrians around it as it was positioned across the pavement. I made my introductions and explained the project and Darren readily agreed to participate.

We chatted a bit but all the while, his two work mates (up in the cradle of the cherry picker) had cottoned on to what was happening below and had started ribbing poor Darren mercilessly! I decided to cut the encounter short (after first asking the lads if they were brave enough to come down and take part too - they weren't :) )

I did find out that Darren lives just down the road, in Baldock

Thank you Darren for participating in my project, and sorry for the ribbing you're bound to have got this afternoon

Một ngày khi ông trời thương cho cơn mưa. Giá như mưa to chút nữa thì hay biết mấy. Hôm nay vậy

Stopped at this old house today to take a few pictures. We were told that this house is 100 years old and the old guy that owns it doesn't live in it but, he comes by every day to check on it. The old house is in need of repair, the owner is too old to do it himself. I really hope that someone steps in and helps out, I'd hate to see this house destroyed.

My 100th photo to be put on Flickr! Considering I have about 7000 (and counting) on my lightroom alone that's gotta be some sort of achievement. It can be hard not to just upload 100 at a time sometimes haha here's to all the forgotten ones, deleted ones and the ones to come in the future! Hopefully they get better and better

This was one I took at sunset the other day, got a bit lazy/everyone was ready to leave so it didn't come out as good as it could've but I'm happy enough with it.. I only had my 30mm on me so this is actually a panorama of 3 photos stitched together

Cheers everyone :)
