It's been a pretty light year of snowfall up in the mountains. Not ideal for skiers/snowboarders....or photographers really. Good news is that Hood is expected to get dumped on this weekend. High temps in the mid 20's with 100% precipitation on Sunday.
This image is from a snowshoe outing last winter. I liked how this tree stood up to the mountain and provided some perspective in terms of size/scale. I wanted to compress the scene so I threw on my 150mm and backed up a bit. Timing was perfect as this guy was cruising down from my left. It can be a challenge to capture unexpected action with medium format film, but I'm happy with how this frame turned out. He added another layer and a bit more perspective to the scene and location overall.

A blend of about 10 images. I'm really liking this method of creating impressionist type images - the results are starting to look like what I'm aiming for.

After 6 hrs in the truck waiting in line to leave Burning Man, someone had to take action. I grabbed my bullhorn and worked the line of Trucks, RVs and hippy buses. Insuting, encouraging, and yelling in windows, I attempted to get people out into the Nevada sun to do a photo shoot.
I billed it as the "100 Burner Handstand", hoping that we could get at least 100 people to stand on their hands, while waiting for the bathroom in 95+ degree heat. This is the result.
Eric was another lucky find while out walking today. Eric was very knowledgeable about photography and I'm sure we could have chatted for hours. As per usual I used my trusty 50mm lens “This picture is #51in my 100 strangers project. Therse splits are caused by fresh water running across the beach and the water seeps at many points joining up to form little drainage channels in dendritic (tree-like) patterns on Mellon Udrigle beach.
I'd seen Harry a few times around Slough town centre, sitting in his wheel-chair, always with his hat on and usually keeping company with a number of other guys. He is someone I'd wanted to photograph for a while but always shied away at the last moment with nerves. Today my luck was in, he was sat all alone smoking his pipe and when I approached him with the request rather than the gruff response I was expecting he agreed straight away. But I didn't take the shot straight away, I wanted to find out about Harry, hear about his life, how he worked for Sieko around the world, fell on hard times with drink and his numerous encounters with the law. I would like to say we chatted for ages but actually Harry spoke and I listened, perhaps it was his Irish roots but Harry knows how to tell a tale.
After a while I took a few shots, and he was insistent that he stood up from his chair so I could get "his best side".
I'll post some more shots of Harry from when we were chatting and I suspect these won't be the last you see of him now that contact has been made - I'm going to take a few prints back to him anyway and I want to listen to him more as well.

I met Colin in the precincts of Lincoln Cathedral where he was waiting to photograph peregrine Falcons that habituate the Cathedral building. We had a chat about seeing them . It was a bitter cold morning and Colin certainly deserves an award for his tenacity and patience. This picture is #28 in my 100 strangers project. Rares fleurs de l'hiver, les hellébores semblent vouloir jouer les fragiles et cependant, ils bravent les frimas.
Karlie is my 100 Strangers #49. I was having tea with a buddy, Paul Boudreau, and noticed Karlie coming towards us. Paul had seen her earlier at Montebello Park but couldn't catch up to her. As luck would have it she is on her way to her job as a personal trainer at John Fulton's Gym, just up on the left. I asked Karlie if she would be part of my 100 Strangers project and she happily agreed, mentioning that she would also like some promo shots of her working out to help build her clientelle. Thanks Karlie, and email me when you want those promo shots.Check out the 100 Strangers Project
Aye! 100 FOLLOWERS!
I can't thank you guys enough for the follows, favorites, and comments. I've been on Flickr for a long time but only recently started taking it more seriously.
I really appreciate each and every single one of you for taking the time to even look at my photos. I'm just making figures I like to make, I honestly can't believe how much people like them and want to see them.

It was a few minutes before sunset and a cold wind was blowing sand across the beach. There was nobody else around and I was practicing my reflector techniques on Blanca. Then I saw two people on bikes approaching and hurried to meet them and ask if they'd participate in my project. After an initial bemused shoulder shrug, they both happily agreed.
Mark and Hope (stranger #3) are brother and sister and are from Pensacola Beach, Florida. Recently, they pulled up stakes and headed west on a cross-country road trip. Hope is interested in photography and has been showing Mark how to use her camera along their travels. It was not unlike my own trip out to Oregon and we had a nice conversation about it. They had found good jobs in California for a while but then decided to continue on. They both had such a great energy, were witty and funny and full of an adventurous spirit! I really enjoyed meeting them!
Hope was holding the reflector, using the Sunfire side (gold/silver). By this time, the sun had partially disappeared behind clouds, but the reflector really helped to bring light into his eyes. As you can probably tell from the angle, Mark is very tall!
Thanks for participating and best of luck to you both! Contact me to get the pictures.
