Happy 57th Birthday, Malaysia!

Please enjoy another aerial view of the metropolis that we know as Kuala Lumpur!

In the lower right of the image, you can see the curvature of the River Klang. A major highway flanks both sides of the Klang, where it will eventually meet its tributary, the River Gombak. The meeting of these two rivers is the foundation that gives Kuala Lumpur its name (“Muddy Confluence” in English).

I wish I had had more time to explore, but the memories and experiences were and continue to be unforgettable. In my most recent blog entry, I describe my encounter with the Malaysian military and the full experience of my aerial photography flight with the pilot who initially refused to land the plane upon my request. If you’re interested, the article is called, “A (Somewhat) Comedic Conflict of Cultures above Kuala Lumpur”.

Silakan! Jumpa lagi! / Enjoy! See you soon!

On my way home from work I saw this container hanging at a construction crane in the air. I already wanted to leave the construction area behind me. Then I turned round and went back, thought this might be a nice shot ;-).

Incorporating many elements into a wide angle shot could be even more challenging than the use of a telephoto lens to isolate one element in abstract, because it is hard to crop out unwanted item, but it could be extremely satisfying if done successfully. The context it provides to the scene brings back fond memory of the original experience and allows one to discover after.

Can anyone help me explain the purpose of those fences ? They were kind of in the way at first when I tried to find a good spot to shoot at the scene. But looking back, the fantastic interest and perspective it offered is priceless.

The Sea Arch Stack, Crohy Head, Dungloe, County Donegal, Ireland

I didn’t even realise that this wonderful natural formation even existed until recently. I was in the western coast of Ireland when I found out and located this barely known arch stack!

It is located on a small peninsula called Crohy Head. Very difficult to climb down too and you even have to use a rope that is attached to some rocks on the cliff face! Amazing location with this very unique sea arch

Yellow-rumped Warblers are abundant in Florida during the winter. Their basic / non-breeding plumage is relatively drab but we have a brief period of time in early spring when they are molting into their alternate / breeding colors. This was taken last April in my yard.

...

...

In last Saturday (04/12/14), reached a awesome staggering of 500.000 hits on Flickr! Half a million!!! It made me revise my entire career learning, and I am very happy and grateful for everything that has happened! I started clicking with compact cameras, passionate with unlimited world of photography. Over time, I expanded my own limits and the limits of things that worked. Widened my horizons and I am here today, even with endless things to learn...

Today we live in a time where popular photography is dominated by technology and its megapixels, but, how to keep the passion, the sensitivity before all the massive robotization that permeates us? As we all should know, the most difficult to acquire is everything that money cannot buy... Are necessary a lot of dedication, sensitivity and responsibility when it intends to register divine works, places and people in unique and unrepeatable seconds. Each frozen instant is a time machine, a memory of something that will never be repeated , no matter what happens, every second is unique in the billions of years of universe, and the photography is - moreover - a way of reviewing old atoms and make memorable moments return to live! Every day I am more passionate about what I do!

And you? What is your passion? What gives meaning to your life and makes it all worthwhile?

The Lake Achen is a lake north of Jenbach in Tyrol, Austria. It is the largest lake of Tyrol and has a maximal depth of 133 metres. Water quality is near drinking water, with sight up to 10 m below the surface. An alpine lake, water temperature is accordingly low, rarely above 20 °C. Today turquoise blue with gentle waves, another time deeply blue and stormy. The lake is the focal point of all sides of the region. The fjord-like Achensee is accessible from all sides and well-known for its beautiful public beaches in Eben and Pertisau. Pertisau here below is located on the western banks. The main landing stage for the Achensee boat trip is situated in Pertisau. Since 1887 steamboats have connected the towns of Achenkirch, Maurach and Pertisau. Windsurfer’s colourful sails and sports such as fishing, tennis, running and Nordic Walking are some of the activities. Also scuba divers will find the perfect conditions there. Around the lake there is a lot to be explored. You can take a nostalgic ride with the oldest operating steam locomotive with a sprocket track railway. Pertisau is one of the best starting points for hikes and tours in Tyrol’s largest nature park, the Karwendel Alpine Park. Karwendel cable car takes you to the Zwölferkopf area. The area extends from 591 to 2749 metres altitude. Its surface area is made up of protected areas, landscape conservation areas and sanctuaries which are protected under the Tyrolean Nature Conservation Act. Hikers can roam through pristine valleys for hours on end with chamois and ibex; observe marmots, deer and hares, while birds of prey such as buzzards, glide through the air.

Our path started through woodland, and when we first came to a place with a viewpoint, it was wonderful to see how the view had opened up. But then it just got better and better as we kept on climbing, with every view more lovely than the last, so I kept on taking more and more photos! Once we reached the top, we could see right over the Achensee valley and the lake – it was really inspiring, and we spent a long time gazing before continuing our walk down through another valley. We had our lunch at the Bärenbad Alm restaurant - 1.457m. We particularly appreciated this mountain restaurant halfway our hiking.
