Despite the possible typo, the thought of a "Chevalier" getting married should encourage research into this fine wedding group from the Poole Studios in Waterford. We in Library Towers love these old shots for the people, the clothes and especially the hats of the ladies which tell so much about the era and the status locally, nationally and sometimes internationally.
And indeed there was lots to note (local and international) about this picture. Carol Maddock quickly confirmed that this wedding party is marking marriage of Chevalier Thomas O'Loughlin and Kathleen Murphy on 27 September 1911. The wedding took place at the O'Loughlin Memorial Church, County Kilkenny (a church whose main benefactor was O'Loughlin himself - funded by family wealth from the Australian gold-rush. Yes, really!). The reception took place at the Club House Hotel in Kilkenny, with a firm suggestion from Niall McAuley that the image was taken at the hotel. Carol provides an extract from the Kilkenny People on the day:
"... in the O'Loughlin Memorial Church in St. John's Parish, when Chevalier Thomas O'Loughlin, Killarney Villa, Ballarat, Australia, was united in marriage with Miss Kathleen Murphy, fifth daughter of Mr. James Murphy, Ballybur Castle, Co. Kilkenny. Chevalier O'Loughlin (or Count O'Loughlin, as he now is[...]) is a prominent figure in the Catholic world in Ireland and Australia. A native of Kilkenny and the inheritor of a vast fortune in the Southern Continent ... The wedding ceremony was fixed for 8 o'clock...[about thirty priests con-celebrated the mass, even some from Australia!] ... followed by her sisters, the Misses Daisy and Sheela Murphy..."
We're delighted to learn that the bride and groom returned to "Southern Continent" after the wedding, and "both lived, and prospered in Australia".....

View of John Grantham, Sheriff of Newcastle at the opening of Benwell Billiard Saloon, 28 November 1924 (TWAM ref. DF.GRA/1/1).
These images belong to a series of albums documenting John Grantham’s service to the City of Newcastle upon Tyne as its Sheriff 1924-1925 and its Lord Mayor 1936-1937. John Grantham was born in Blyth in 1877 and became a cinema proprietor in Newcastle. He was elected to the City Council in 1912 and became an alderman in 1932. The albums give us an interesting insight into the duties of Lord Mayor and Sheriff as well as a fascinating picture of the times.
2016 is the 800th anniversary of the creation of Newcastle's Mayoralty and Burgesses.

Le vin d'Ayse est un mousseux excellent très apprécié des gens du pays, même s'il n'est pas très connu au niveau national.

The Protestant Church of St John (German: Johanneskirche) in Stuttgart was built in the Gothic Revival style from 1864 to 1876 by its chief architect, Christian Friedrich von Leins. It lies on a peninsula of the Feuersee (Fire Lake), while the main entrance and tower marks the beginning of the former Johannesstraße (St. John's Street).
After being nearly destroyed in the Second World War, the main church building was reconstructed, but the Gothic vaults were replaced with modern ones and the tower was intentionally left incomplete to serve as a sort of war memorial. (Wikipedia)
