Earlier today, we attender another fortheloveofbrooklyn meet up in Gowanus. I was really surprised that there was about 20 people that turned out, compared to about 6 last month. So I wanted to try something new and do a pano of the entire group. Not sure how great the results are but hey, its something.

I've tagged everyone I know, so if you want to help out and tag yourself/someone I don't know, be my guest.

spring, summer and fall will be coming soon..

i haven't thought up of them yet..

this series is inspired by a great russian photographer Oleg Igorin... he is the man ! and i say he has gained my attention as an industry standard.

this shot was done in a parking garage with 3 speed lights.. and a single alien bee strobe AB1600..

i had the glitter cross lighted by 2 speedlights gelled with blue and green.. the green wasn't showing up too well..

anyways.. it is a project i have been thinking of doing for awhile and hadn't had a chance.. but last night presented it self..

1 speed light in the rear and a shoot thru for the wall and partial side lighting

2 speed lights for the cross lighting..

1 AB 1600 for the key light 64PLM was used.

all speed lights were full power

the AB1600 was just below 1/4 power being it was really close to Katie

lots of glitter was use.. LOL.. really fun shot..

Today I have been driving back to my hometown, the places where I have grown up. There comes a time in the year when I can really smell in the air the taste of spring coming up, and this was the day. I went there to take pictures of the sunset (which actually I did some), but on the other side of the horizon, I hesitated in front of an unexpected moonrise. It looked gorgeous, as the air was very clear. That awesome moon, floating on the top of my long-known hills, still lit by the last sunrays, started to pour a river of memories into my mind. I could not stop the superposition of fragments of those memories, just at random… the cans of cheap beer barely hidden and the first cigarettes stolen from our parents, the many dreams about our future lives and what we would have become, the first challenges of love, no worries about tomorrow and the uncertainty about the present time.

Tonight, for a handful of minutes, I felt again the same, just until the sun faded finally behind me.

Dedicated to all of those who look in depth at the details

PS: By the way, I don't smoke (anymore) but still like beer :) It helps to remember...

Today was another rare morning.... Normally I don't see high clouds and low fog, but it happened today, and again it made for some unique lighting conditions. As it did yesterday, the fog moved out from inside the bay. A contact of mine, Stargazer95050 was lucky enough to capture yesterday mornings fog event, and clued me in on why the fog moves out, and not in during the winter months. I am not a weather scientist in any way, so I wont even try to explain this one. Thanks Andy for the info....

So I think this will be the last of these foggy mornings for a little while..... Thanks for the views and comments..... I appreciate the time everyone takes to view my images. Thank you!

I was in Brooklyn over the weekend for a pizza tour with some visiting friends. This was taken in DUMBO. Did you know that DUMBO is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass? I just found out that SoHo stood for South of Houston Street and Tribeca means Triangle Below Canal Street! Haha I guess NYC loves acronyms as much as my old company does.

It was pretty cold that day and you can see that the snow has not melted yet. We are getting some more fresh snow today. I like this shot because I thought the graffiti van really fit in with the nitty gritty feel of this area.

Hello everyone! Thanks for your views, comments, notes, faves and invites!

Mölndal Falls is the origin of Mölndal Kvarnby. Already in the Middle Ages used water power to drive mills and in the late 1800s Kvarnbyn developed into one of Sweden's major industrial areas. Paper industry, textile industry dominated. The old factory building now houses the companies, museums, craft and artistic activities. The area's real character is still there. This bustling with new life and annual events with the culture and business in cooperation.

London can be a fantastic place for a walk, and for me some of the best walks are by the river - and when we are talking about the Thames this covers a huge area of quite varied scenery. Heck cattle were developed in the early 20th century by the Heck brothers in Germany in an attempt to breed back modern cattle to their ancestral form, the aurochs. Lutz Heck, director of the Berlin Zoological Gardens, began extensive breeding programs supported by the Nazis during World War II to bring back the aurochs. The reconstructed aurochs fitted into the Nazi propaganda drive to create an idyllic history of the Aryan Nation. The breeding back is a controversial procedure in the scientific community: once a genetic lineage is gone, it cannot be bred back. Only 39 of the crossed cattle survived World War II. A Heck bull should be at least 1.6 m high and a cow 1.4 m with weight up to 900 kg. Heck cattle are twenty to thirty centimeters shorter than the aurochs they were bred to resemble. However, cross-breeding efforts continue to increase the size and weight of the breed. The Heck cattle development which is seen by some as competition to the conservation of the surviving native Wisent European Bison. Nevertheless, in view of today's farm breeding programs, the Heck cattle represent an important source of vital genes since ther Heck cattle are rarely affected by diseases than any other old farm breeds. Heck cattle are considered by some the most suitable cattle breed for low intensity grazing systems in certain types of nature reserves, due to their ruggedness and lack of need for human care. There are about 3000 Heck cattle in Europe and few elsewhere. In Oostvaardersplassen in Flevoland near Lelystad Netherlands, there are about 570 Heck cattle freely roaming without human interference.

I only noticed the tall shadows viewing it from a hill. When you're standing in the shadows you don't notice it anymore. I captured it a bit under exposed which brings the shadow much more alive! Photo of Heck cattle in the harsh winter taken at the Dutch nature reserve Oostvaardersplassen between Almere and Lelystad. I did enter the park at the Kottertocht entrance. It is hard to survive the winter. All animals are kept without supplemental winter feeding. In the last 2009 winter 2% of Heck cattle, 7% of Konik horses and 11% of Red deer died due to the cold winter. Many deer already crossed the frozen water in search for food. Some horses were stucked due to their weight did crush the too thin ice. These konik horses where consuming the fibres of tree trunks, because food is very hard to find, although it is not there daily nutrition. Especially when there is deep snow, lack of food causes starvation among the weak and the strongest will survive . So the survival of the fittest keeps the herds strong and healthy. Also Foxes, which are quite common in this reserve, profit from carcasses of deer, cows and birds in winter. Maybe in future a pack of Wolves could do a great job as natural predators in this part of Holland.
