I have been trying since 2008 ended to do a compilation video. Here it finally is! The ones with asterisks are my best images of 2008, but all of them are memorable to me. These images are in my photostream (links below) if you want a longer look than the 2 seconds you get here. Many thanks to my Flickr friends, you inspired me!

This is the ball that Barry Bonds hit to break Hank Aaron's home run record. The asterisk has been cut out to emphasize the strong suspicion that Bonds abused steroids for many years leading up to the home run record. This was the highlight of my Hall Of Fame Visit.

Tenuous Link: Plane in previous picture is so tiny it is almost unnoticeable __ plane in this picture the quite visible main subject
To the best of my knowledge the smallest plane is a TP-51C Mustang Fighter named Betty Jane. The bomber plane that says Witchcraft and Audre is a B-24J Liberator bomber. It was built in USA, sent to Britain, and it saw action during WWII with the Royal Air Force (RAF). After WWII it saw service in India. The bomber plane with Nine 0 Nine or 909 on the side is a B-17G Flying Fortress Bomber, and I got to see it fly into Corvallis, Oregon Airport. These 3 planes were from WWII and are restored and maintained by The Collings Foundation (www.cfdn.org). There were many veterans at the show this afternoon, and they seemed both happy and awed to see these.

Obviously, I am neither a WWII expert nor a fighter and bomber plane expert. I post these here for those of you that are, to enjoy. To the best of my knowledge the smallest plane is a B-17 Fighter Plane Mustang named Betty Jane. The bomber plane that says Witchcraft and Audre is a B-21, I think. It was built in USA, sent to Britain and they used it in India. Someone at the show said it might not be the exact one. I don't know. Please feel free to offer corrections, but don't slam me for my lack of knowledge about this subject. I had no money to go into the show, and I did the best I could.

Just a quick pick of the little new one.
I need to sew him black jeans instead of his stock white pants...
Encore une photo vite faite du "petit nouveau du jour".
Il faut que je lui couse des jeans noirs au lieu du futal blanc du fullset...

Historians, Genealogists, Cemetery Lovers ~ Tornado Damage :o(
Many of you know I am an enthusiast for historical cemeteries, and genealogy and photography. I often combine all 3 interests. I was photographing some of the tornado damage in Aumsville, Oregon, a small town I had not ever been to before. When I was composing a shot through the chain link fence surrounding the heavily damaged Nichol plumbing company, my heart leapt up in my throat a bit when I saw this tornado and rain damaged box and the label on it. I zoomed in to read it. It said "Aumsville Cemetery Records". The tornado was on December 14, 2010 in Aumsville, Oregon. I was there on December 16, 2010. I wanted so badly to at least cover the box with a tarp, as the contents were exposed to the sky. No one in the area at the time would let me go in, for reasonable safety concerns. I had never been to Aumsville before and didn't know a soul there. I told as many people as I thought might be able to do something about the situation. I surely didn't want to see them bulldozed under. I made some phone calls, some in person contacts, and e-mailed five people involved with the Aumsville Historical Society. I took a close up picture of the box, and it is posted here on Flickr day or so back from this picture. That picture is fuzzy because I think I was quite literally shaken when I read the label on the box. Also, I was trying to zoom in through the chain link fence at about 24 x zoom.
Before I got this story part added to this picture I talked to one person who had talked to someone else who felt that the box was not cemetery records, only old magazines and things like that. I found out that the people who ran the Plumbing Company also held the records for the cemetery; so if those were not the cemetery records, then where were the real ones? Are they safe and dry? Have they ever been transcribed or copied? I found out there is only one old map of the cemetery. What has become of it? Wouldn't it be better to allow someone, like the Museum, or the Library, or the Historical Society to have at least one copy of it?
The people in the Aumsville Cemetery already died. I hope the records and map of their burials don't die too. It seems like they have a very proactive Historical Society in Aumsville, and that this will get resolved.

I posted other pictures about this scene, and they will appear in My own personal set of Pictures with Stories, but this is the only one which I submitted to Pictures with Stories (group), because one story is what is permissible.
