Not even room for a little 'un on this packed day car in Sligo town. Destinations advertised outside Walsh's were Ballina, Bundoran, Enniskillen, Ballyshannon and Roscommon.

Thanks to John Spooner, we now know this photo was taken on Corcoran's Mall in Sligo and he found great info on Walsh's schedules from Slater's 1870 directory for Sligo:

"To BALLINA, from Corcoran's Mall, a Mail Car, every morning at fifty-five minutes past six, and a Van at halfpast two afternoon.

To BALLYSHANNON, from Corcoran's Mall, a Mail Car, every morning at six; also a Day Car at twenty minutes past two afternoon, during summer months only.

To ENNISKILLEN, Cars leave WALSH'S Office, Corcoran's Mall, every day (Sunday excepted) at seven in the morning." See comments below for how John worked out that the trip from Sligo to Ballyshannon worked out at an average of 6.75 mph!

The Ultaran, being the decendants of Makaan, are firm believers that superiority over 'inferior races' is achieved through the construction of giant, powerfull war machines. The Ultaran Dreadnoughts are feared in every corner of the galaxy because their sniping power is immense. They deliver fantastic damage over great distances. However these ships lack the electronics to deliver that pain so far on their own. They require a couple scouts (housed within the ships docking bay) to 'target-paint' coordinates. Therefore, ironically, the immense power of these ships rely on the very fragile nature of the scouts.

------------------------------------

It's finally finished! This one is a bit bigger and more complex than what im used to, and required a couple BL orders of light grey bricks. Its inner structure is quite sturdy and the armor pannels are angled using many different techniques.

I will detail and compare the evolution of the ship through sketches and pictures at a later time. Inspired at first by Vaygr Battleships, i realize that it has more of a Sajuuk shape.

The New City Hall or New Town Hall in Hanover, Germany at night, is a city hall and was opened on July 20th, 1913, after having been under construction for 12 years.

It is a magnificent, castle-like building of the era of William II in eclectic style at the southern edge of the inner city (outside of the historic city center of Hanover).

The building is embedded in the 10 hectare Maschpark. The Old City Hall is no longer used as the main seat of administration, but houses businesses and the registry office.

also known as "tic-tac-toe" :)

The tomb of Shah Rukn-e-Alam was built between 1320 and 1324, is an unmatched pre-Moghul masterpiece. The Mausoleum of Rukn-i-Alam could possibly be considered as the glory of Multan.

From whichever side the city is approached, the most prominent thing that can be seen from miles all around is a huge dome. This dome is the Shrine of the saint. The tomb is located on the southwest side of the Fort premises. This elegant building is an octagon, 51 feet 9 inches in diameter internally, with walls 41 feet 4 inches high and 13 feet 3 inches thick, supported at the angles by sloping towers. Over this is a smaller octagon 25 feet 8 inches, on the exterior side, and 26 feet 10 inches high, leaving a narrow passage all round the top of the lower storey for the Moazzan, or public caller to prayers. The whole is surmounted by a hemispherical dome of 58 feet external diameter. The total height of the building, including a plinth of 3 feet, is 100 feet. As it stands on the high ground, the total height above the road level is 150 feet.[4]

Besides its religious importance, the mausoleum is also of considerable archaeological value as its dome is reputed to be the second largest in the world. The mausoleum is built entirely of red brick, bounded with beams of shisham wood, which have now turned black after so many centuries. The whole of the exterior is elaborately ornamented with glazed tile panels, string-courses and battlements. Colors used are dark blue, azure, and white, contrasted with the deep red of the finely polished bricks.

My youngest grandchild Wilm one year old walked his first steps without taking someones hand during I was in Bielefeld. He simply still loves crawling on the ground and it doesn't matter whether on foliage in the forest or on the street ;-)).

Bangladesh is the play ground of nature. She is very rich in flowers vegetation and green fields. The blue sky, the green fields, the yellow corns have an unending fascination for all. They beauties of nature in Bangladesh are sufficient to make even the unpeotical person somewhat of a poet.

The beauties of Bangladesh have been praised greatly by the travelers. The green plains and meadows, the murmuring rivers, the clear blue sky the scenes of hills and montains have made this country unequal in the world in natural beautey.

The padma, the magna, the karnafuly and many other rivers have criss-crossed the country like nest. These rivers have added to the beatuey of this land, The scences of the boats playing in these rivers present a magic beauty. The bosom of the rivers flashes like silver in the flood of moonlight.

The beauty of nature changes with the change of season. Sis means appear here with their special appeal. In summer mango trees, jack-fruit trees and many other fruit trees bend down the ripe fruits and assume and unusual look. This season fills the villages and country side various delicious and juicy fruits. Nature seems dead with scorching raws of the sun.

Y espero, aunque los años pesan, seguir visitando y disfrutando de más ruinas romanas mientras pueda sostenerme.

I wish, althoug the years keep going .., to continue visiting more roman ruins...

♫ Jose Padilla & Seal - Adios ayer. ♫

To accompany the photographs a legendary Chill-out song .

The Liencres Urros are a few small islands parallel off the coast, located in Cantabria.

The road linking the town of Liencres and Soto de la Marina has departures from beaches, Portio, Covachos and Arnía. These beaches are also linked by a coastal path above the cliffs and to enjoy the spectacle the Urros.

When the sea is angry is breathtaking to see how the waves crashing against Urros as its vertical climb walls.

About this shot

Swans in front of 'The Swan' (=Erasmus bridge) always nice!

The 'Inflatable Me' / 'Gullivers Travels' thing, is an idea I've been toying around with for quite some time for my new website. Still optimizing the technique. It's not easy to get light, shadows and water right (plus wet pants!), but I'm working on it! Hope you like the idea behind it. :-)

Very busy at the moment: Changing workflow from Photoshop CS5 to Lightroom 4 (final touch in CS5), setting up a webshop to sell my stuff plus busy creating a professional website. I really want to get things going, photography wise!

Enjoy your loooong weekend, and thx for dropping by!

I started off the month of April by walking to the border of Mexico. I was sent out to the grocery store ... and took a detour. I was standing on the border when I received a phone call. "Where are you mom? What is taking you so long!!" :-)

There weren't many folk about ... a few surfers, some dog-walkers, a lone fisherman ... and some horseback riders on the Mexican side of the shore. When I saw this beach umbrella, I couldn't resist!

Mont Blanc (French) or Monte Bianco (Italian), meaning "White Mountain", is the highest mountain in the Alps, Western Europe and the European Union. It rises 4,810.45 m (15,782 ft)[2] above sea level and is ranked 11th in the world in topographic prominence. It is also sometimes known as La Dame blanche (French for "the White Lady") or Il Bianco (Italian for "the White One").

The mountain lies between the regions of Aosta Valley, Italy, and Haute-Savoie, France and the location of the summit is on the watershed line between the valleys of Ferret and Veny in Italy and the Arve Valley in France.

The two most famous towns near Mont Blanc are Courmayeur in Aosta Valley, Italy, and Chamonix in Haute-Savoie, France—the site of the first Winter Olympics. A cable car ascends and crosses the mountain from Courmayeur to Chamonix.

Begun in 1957 and completed in 1965, the 11.6 km (7¼ mi) Mont Blanc Tunnel runs beneath the mountain between these two countries and is one of the major trans-Alpine transport routes.

The Mont Blanc massif is popular for mountaineering, hiking, skiing and snowboarding.

The summit of Mont Blanc is a thick, perennial ice and snow dome whose thickness varies, so no exact and permanent summit elevation can be determined. But accurate measurements have been made. For a long time its official elevation was 4,807 m (15,771 ft). Then in 2002, the IGN and expert surveyors, with the aid of GPS technology, measured it to be 4,810.40 m (15,782 ft 2 in).

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mont_Blanc

The Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m) is a mountain in the Mont Blanc massif in the French Alps.

The cable car to the summit, the Téléphérique de l'Aiguille du Midi, was built in 1955 and held the title of the world's highest cable car for about two decades. It still holds the record as the highest vertical ascent cable car in the world, from 1,035 m to 3,842 m. There are two sections: from Chamonix to Plan de l'Aiguille at 2,317 m and then directly, without any support pillar, to the upper station at 3,777 m (the building contains an elevator to the summit). The span of the second section is 2,867 m measured directly, but only 2,500 m measured horizontally. It thus still is the second longest span width, measured directly.

Comparison photos of Lesser Scaup and Greater Scaup. The photo in the first comment box below shows a female Greater Scaup. Lesser Scaup has a more peaked crown with a noticeable corner of the crown above and behind the eye. Greater Scaup's head is more rounded. Greater Scaup also has a larger bill which flares out a bit towards the tip. Greater Scaup also shows pudgier cheeks if you can get a head-on view of the bird.
