This is the first winter that we have not gone South for quite a few years. It is a little different watching the backyard during a snow storm. The colors of this male House Finch really did stand out in the white surroundings. We are all patiently waiting for Spring, except for those fortunate enough to be in the warmer climates.

I crave human contact. Always.
I am a very physical person. Sitting close, leaning against, hugging, touching, holding—these are important to me. Human touch is important to me. Especially when I am stressed or upset, it makes me feel better. It pulls me back to reality, comforts, and relaxes me. A hug, a nudge, a hand on the shoulder, a brush across the back—These things make me feel loved and safe.
I think this is one of the hardest things for me to deal with right now—just the lack of constant physical contact with people I care about. Especially being as stressed as I've been...it seems like everything would be okay if I could just have that contact, that physical human touch throughout the day. I'm left feeling stranded—dying to hug, touch, push, hit, feel, hold someone—left feeling lost when I can't, or don't.
I need a hug. A handshake, an embrace, a tap on the shoulder, a pat on the back. I need to be able to sit close to someone and lean against them, to play with someone's hair, to hug them, to push them, to hit them, hold them, touch them. I need to be able to grab someone's arm when I'm watching a movie, to use their shoulder as a pillow, to have that human contact that I'm used to.
I need it to relax, to calm down, to be comforted—to comfort. I need it to keep my sanity.

When not working, the inhabitants of Ice planet 2002 go home to their small but functional apartments. The apartment complex is fitted with a garage, and high speed satellite communication. Rooms are rented fully furnished, but some choose to add their personal touch.

Back from my trip! Oh man, I lost at least an inch off the soles of my feet! Everything's so stinkin big it looks like it's only a block away - trust me it's not! I've always considered myself 'a walker'. I have had to re-think my position on that. Another thing I learned was that lenses are heavy. I totally thought people who talked about the weight of this or that lens as a buying factor were complete whiners. Uhmmm...I've had to rethink my position on that as well. I've heard that to become an artist you must suffer - believe me, I suffered in the taking of these shots, so if that's a qualifier I'm there!
