This Spoonbill looks just like a balletdancer, the way it gently touches the water when he comes in to land.
They are such graceful birds and when the light is right they are such a joy to watch and take pictures of.
I spend hours watching the young chasing the parents and begging for food, all the time making some weird whistling noises.
Finally the parent birds give in and the young stick their long beaks right down the parents throats to get to the food.
These pictures I has saved for a later upload. :)

The Camellias are just beautiful in the Japanese Garden at Descanso Gardens. You can stand right next to them while they give you everything they've got.
I would have to say that Camellias are my favorite flowers. They are beautiful and they remind me of my hometown, Sacramento, The Camellia City. I also love Daisies because they are humble and playful.

101 Oil Studies, No. 75
Objective: Full composition figures in nature
A composition in which the locale based on my photographs many years ago of a rocky stretch of Lake Tahoe shoreline on the Nevada side.
Painted in 19 sessions: 14 June to 14 July 2025
Pigments (Winsor & Newton Artists' oil colour unless otherwise noted): Warm grey (Rembrandt), unbleached titanium (Richeson), lamp black, ivory black, Permalba white (Weber), burnt umber, burnt sienna, cadmium orange, yellow ochre, Winsor yellow, Naples yellow, indigo, cerulean blue, cobalt blue. Mediums: Gamsol, Oleogel.
