James Cauty – The Aftermath Dislocation Principle Part V
Fonteijne, Vlissingen 2014
“The Aftermath Dislocation Principle Part V” van James Cauty ziet eruit als een verwoest, verlaten, vernietigd en verbrand landschap. In de overblijfselen zijn 5.000 politiemannen achtergebleven. Iedereen is opgepakt en weggevoerd, waarschijnlijk niet zonder slag of stoot. De politie heeft niemand meer om in de gaten te houden, op te pakken of te controleren. De ultieme politiestaat?
James Cauty's roguish and voluble approach has earned him a cult following for work that remains radical, responsive and darkly comical. He produces work that draws on and responds to contemporary culture, very often sampling it and sending/selling it back as recoded realities. In billboard and stamp projects Mickey Mouse was sent to Iraq in 'Operation Magic Kingdom' whilst Julie Andrews danced across vast rubbish heaps, crushed cars were sold to second hand car dealers as art and riots have been rendered as tiny models in jam jars.
His most recent work has been focussed on the making of 1:87 riotous scale models as small world re-enactments, often displayed in upturned jam jars as A Riot in A Jam Jar. His new exhibition The Aftermath Dislocation Principle continues this preoccupation with small world re-enactments as a vast 1:87 scale-model landscape (equivalent to 1 sq mile in miniature) which has been desolated, deserted, destroyed, burnt and is devoid of life apart from 5000 or so model police that attend this apocalyptic aftermath; a kind of bizarre twisted model village experience, where Cauty continues his fascination with subversion, consumerism and entertainment through creative exploration and dark humour.

He was just lying there - I had the sudden urge to part his belly fur and about fell on the floor laughing when it was done!
Part two of the 2012 Tri-Nation Competition takes place at the HRADISTE training area in the Czech Republic on June 28. The three participating countries split their soldiers into five teams consisting of Czech, US, and German soldiers to compete in this two-day competition filled with challenging events to foster teamwork, comradeship, and highlight the trans-boarder civil-military cooperation. Part one of the competition was hosted by the Joint Multinational Training Command in Grafenwoehr.

As part of the required course knowledge pupils need to be able to outline the process involved in taking a square wooden blank and preparing it for turning between centres. These pictures depict that process chronologically.
Stage 1 * Preparation of wooden blank. Cut to size. Sand square. Mark across diagonals. Centre punch the centre point. Use spring dividers to mark circumference. Repeat on other end.
Stage 2 * Plane off corners down to circumference line. This takes cross section from square to octagon. This reduces force on cutting toll in initial prep of blank. Mount between fork [driven] centre and dead [or live ] centre at tailstock end. Apply grease a dead centre end. apply force from tailstock end to force fork into material at driven end. Adjust toolstock height to suit. Check for clearance.
Stage 3 * Roughout using scraper to diameter. Use combination of gouges and skew chisels to add beads and other decorative detailing as required. Ensure spindle speed is appropriate for material and cross section under consideration. Obey all safety instructions.
Pūpūkea is a community and census-designated place (CDP) in the Koʻolauloa District on the island of Oʻahu, City & County of Honolulu, Hawaii, United States. In Hawaiian, pūpūkea means "white shell". As of the 2010 Census, the CDP had a population of 4,551. The Koʻolauloa District ends at Waimea Bay, with the Waialua District extending south and westward.
Pūpūkea is a popular area on Oʻahu's North Shore for living and for visiting. The best known surfing sites of Velzyland, Sunset (at Sunset Beach Park), Kammieland, Pūpūkea, ʻEhukai, Pipeline (these latter two off adjacent ʻEhukai Beach Park and Banzai Beach) and lesser breaks are arrayed off this shore. Popular diving areas known as Three Tables and Sharks Cove are located at Pūpūkea Beach Park. At the southwest end of Pūpūkea is Waimea Bay, with one of the most popular beaches on the island forming the shore at Waimea Beach Park.
Popular residential areas here include the beach lots at Sunset Beach and the uplands of Pūpūkea. The biggest drawback to living in this part of the island is the considerable driving distance to Honolulu.

A few weeks ago I decided to grow out my goatee. Why? I have no idea. Why not! So i thought it was a good photo opportunity. I've had this thing on my face since 1995. I've probably shaved it off twice, maybe. It's who I am, I think. Did it go out of style? I think so. Is it back in style, maybe. Is that why I grew it? I don't know. But its one of my main features. If one was to describe me this one would be thing everyone would say.
It's me.
Andraya, Mischi, my Drew, Levi and Corrine. We're making a surprise for grammy, only it's impossible to get all of them in one room at the same time, so I'm shooting them in dribs and drabs and going to paste them all together in the end. Five down, five to go. All the grandchildren and great grandchildren. (shhhhh) I have great confidence that my mother is utterly computer illiterate, so let's keep it that way until the suprise is sprung.

Underwater Production in the Shark Sanctuary in the Seychelles. In front of a magnificent granite temple, underneath a powerful ocean storm and above a group of grey reef sharks this free-
