Here's another composition from my last visit to Joshua Tree. A shot of the Ancient Juniper taken facing north with the glow from the city of Twenty Palms. I have decided to embrace the glow instead of complain about it. :)
I have started saturating my photos a little bit more than usual after I made a few test prints on an Epson 9900 using a custom RGB profile. Those photos I selected to print, seems to be a little weak in color based on the sRGB colorspace which has a much smaller color gamut then the AdobeRGB1998 colorspace which is available on most cameras and I was using for my photos. But, if I then convert to the AdobeRGB1998 colorspace from sRGB I reduce the amount of colors that get clipped down during conversion. My wish on the next "first star" will be to have the profile supported by the web changed to AdobeRGB1998, It would make for a brighter more colorful internet.
I would like to take a moment to explain my reduced activity here on Flickr. I work in a prepress/advertising environment which gets crazy busy during the Christmas season, I have been working 12 hr shifts and haven't been able to spend as much time Flickering as I usually do. I will be heading out to shoot saturday night but I have vowed to spend all day Sunday catching up!! Please be patient with my busy schedule. Man am I looking forward to the new year when things usually slow down a little. :)
Thank you for taking the time to visit and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! :) Have a great weekend one and all. :)
If you have any questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.

1947, an year to all known at this fishermen's land. in that december day, and night, a sudden storm vanished the dreams of all those men. the huge waves, the strong wind, the growing cold, all against those tiny boats. in one day, one single day, 152 were gone in the sea... and 71 widows were left with eyes on the ocean, with arms on the air.

Biarritz lies on the Bay of Biscay, on the Atlantic coast, in southwestern France. Unlike any other part of France. The region has its own language, cultural landscape, architecture, and culinary traditions. The land here is breathtakingly distinctive— with the turquoise blue waters, wild coastline, and rugged foothills of the Pyrenees

The Torne, also known as the Tornio (Finnish: Tornionjoki, Swedish: Torne älv, Torneälven, Northern Sami: Duortneseatnu, Meänkieli: Tornionväylä), is a river in northern Sweden and Finland. For approximately half of its length it contains the border between these two countries. It rises at Lake Torne (Swedish: Torneträsk) near the border with Norway and flows generally southeast for a distance of 522 kilometres into the Gulf of Bothnia. It is the largest river in Norrbotten both by length and by watershed area.

Captured in: North Topsail Beach, NC.
Pictured here is a view of a large (and rather threatening) cumulonimbus cloud as it loomed over North Topsail Beach, NC.
It ultimately became part of a severe thunderstorm cell, complete with heavy wind & rain, and a fair amount of cloud to ground lightning.
I managed to capture this shot before the weather turned too nasty. My intent was to snap a few shots prior to the storm, as I had no interest in being struck by lightning on the beach! :{

Some notes on this image:
I decided to make some processing changes to one of my favorite shots - There's a Storm a Brewin'. I decided to scrap the original version, and start the HDR & Photoshop processing over from scratch. I wasn't sure the best way to represent the changes with regard to my photostream, but decided to create a separate post instead of just replacing the old image.
I've been trying to fine tune my processing lately.. Looking to strike a better balance between dramatic HDR features, and maintaining a somewhat more natural overall look.
The original image seemed too over processed (at least to me), and way over-sharpened. The version you see now is more in line with how I believe the image should look.
Hope you like the new version... To compare, here's a link to the original image:
