Standing Fast 5884

A twisted pile of scrubby branches makes the perfect roost for this young peregrine falcon. Perching peacefully, it is hard to imaging the speed and ferocity at which this bird will hunt. Capable of speeds of 200 miles per hour, they can snatch another bird right out of the sky, bringing it down for a meal. I watch as its head darts back and forth at the site and sound of passing passerines. The "hunting stoop," at which they attain great speeds, is a controlled dive. Any bird can fall, but peregrines dive with great speed, agility, and remarkable accuracy. Remarkable as they are in flight, they also beautiful birds simply standing still. The peregrine falcon, a remarkable force of nature and evolution. #ILoveBirds #ILoveNature #ILoveWildlife #WildlifePhotography in #NewJersey #Nature in #America #USA #Canon #DrDADBooks #Bringit #Birding #PeregrineFalcon #Peregrine #Falcons #Photography #Picoftheday #Photooftheday
