Driving around in the surroundings of Vorchten I saw this mandarin and the female on a wooden post in the meadows. I love him for his beautiful colours.

In two plus years of active macro photography, I've only had two times when a dragonfly stayed still long enough for me to take multiple photos.

This fellow made my day yesterday when he appeared and allowed me to take several shots.....

Common or not, I feel the Common yellow throat is one of the prettiest warblers around. They are abundant breeders in and around wetlands and marshes as they prefer to breed in low shrubs. It is a well known fact that females when choosing there partner's prefer males with a larger mask. In this warbler world the bad guys finish first.

Little did I know that there was a tornado warning for our county as I was shooting this.

30 minutes after this shot we did have a loud thunderstorm, but no tornado.

This redshank was looking for food in a meadow just along the road. A moment later there was also a lapwing.
