Five Little Kittens...4857
4 week old cheetah cubs are seen here hiding in a tuft of grass on the Serengeti. Mom was close by on the other side of the tuft. Cheetahs are the fastest land animal in the world, able to run upwards of 75 mph for distances of up to about 1/4 of a mile. They can accelerate from 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds! They exhibit very little genetic variability, so much so that skin from one cheetah can be transplanted to another without rejection. Because of habitat loss and predation of young their survival is in peril. It is likely that no more than one of these beautiful cubs will survive the year, and very possible that none will make it. There are areas in South Africa where the young are being protected and supported. This is a prospect that may need to be undertaken elsewhere if we are to see them survive. #Tanzania #Africa #ILoveWildlife #ILoveNature #ILoveAfrica #Cheetah #CheetahCubs #Canon #Bringit #BigCats
