A Thing of Nightmares

Day 76 of an Unknown Number

"A Thing of Nightmares"

When your friend posts an image of a creepy-crawly recently found in their home, one naturally requests that said creature not be disposed of......right? Well, perhaps I am in the minority. The hand-off went down like a scene in a Grisham novel. We agreed to meet at the park.....we both have kids.......so it seemed plausible. She handed me the baggie with the insect, and I brushed the side of my nose. After that.....our kids played together, none the wiser. When I returned home, I quickly realized my model was........expired. Last time I do business with her! I slapped on a little (very little) makeup, and we prepared for our shoot. I initially shot from directly above, and while everything was in focus, I did not get a great view of this mug. So, I decided to go low, and lit from above with a long strip light. I tilted the light up on the front edge, resulting in the gradient appearance of the light. I feel it helps to force the eye to look more at our subject, and less at the overexposed background. I used my 100 macro lens along with my macro extenders on the lens. It creates a very shallow depth of field, focusing on just the face of this tiny monster. While the backside is also interesting.......he's missing a few legs. Thanks for creeping by!!
