Portrait 317

Day 317 of 365

"Portrait 317"

I swore I would use my Body Kun DX Set figurine for another image this year. So, here it is. I recently read of a photographer who takes multiple exposures of an object while circling it. The results are quite surreal and painterly. I thought I would take a stab at it. In order to rotate precisely around the figurine, I initially placed a coaster on top of a fidget spinner. I quickly realized that it would not spin consistently in one place. So, I placed a marker on the table, and simply rotated the figurine seven times during my eight-frame multiple exposure. For the record, this is one multiple exposure, and was not assembled in Photoshop. With that said, I could have taken all of the exposures, and composed them in post. After the first two attempts, I decided it was lacking a little something. So, during each exposure, I stuck a red or blue gel on a handheld strobe, and shot from different angles. Oh, our key light is a soft box at camera-left. It is feathered well in front of our figure, preventing any light from hitting the black background. I see a lot of potential for future concepts. What about a portrait of a human being outside? Thanks for stopping by!
