Sciatica: My Fesse of Pain
Day 55 of an Unknown Number
"Sciatica: My Fesse of Pain"
Last week I caught a case of sciatica. For those not familiar with the condition, it is excruciatingly painful. I would not wish it upon my worst enemy.....unless they were really a jerk....because then I would. As I compose this posting, I am punching my leg and stomping my foot....and not in a fun way. Anyway, on to the image. For today's portrait, I wanted to incorporate my pain......and make it really confusing. So, what you are looking at here is a piece of Plexiglass which is reflecting the image of a mirror, in which I am glaring. Make sense? Simply put, I am standing to the right side of my camera, which is pointed at a slight angle into a piece of Plexiglass on a work bench. To my right is a tall, thin mirror. I am staring into the mirror, at my camera, whose reflection is bouncing off the Plexiglass in front of me. That makes sense......right? There is a gridded strobe on a C-stand directly behind the Plexiglass (and directly in front of me), and it is aimed at the mirror at my right. I adjusted the light so that the strobe's reflection was looking directly at me. At the last moment, I tilted the camera slightly, and sprayed the mirror with water. Only part of the water is in focus, as I was shooting at a 2.8, and the mirror was not flush with my face, thereby creating a rather shallow depth of field. Is someone actually still reading this? Let me read it back to myself. Makes perfect sense!! Thanks for taking a look!!
