Prior to the release of the popular multi-format Yashica Mat-124 model there were two earlier TLR models that had a coupled CdS meter; the Yashica-24 for 220 film (made Dec 1965 - Nov 1967) and the Yashica-12 for 120 film (Apr 1967 - Apr 1968). Both shared the characteristics of the later Mat-124 and Mat-124G TLRs. They all have 80mm f/3.5 Yashinon lenses and used the Copal SV shutter having speeds B, 1 - 1/500 sec., MX flash synch and a self timer. They also all had a coupled CdS meter.

 

Yashica 24 camera observed S/N’s range from L 5100xxx to L 7111xxx with taking lens S/N’s ranging from 508xxx to 781xxx according to Paul Sokk (see yashicatlr.com). Yashica used a used a body S/N coding system that identifies the month and year of manufacture for each body. The serial number of the Yashica-24 body no. L 7010608 with Yashinon 80mm f/3.5 lens No. 667156 in this collection was the 608th unit made in Jan 1967.
