This modelrailway made by Sam de Zutter in 10mm or 1:32 Gauge is all about scrap. The switch from the double track mainline leads trains into a dirty industrial world full of scrap-iron. Not one single mm of this fantastic detailed layout is without weathering or dirt, the old world!

"Be Jolly" Mini Book

With the days finally cooling off I was excited to create this frosty little album in honor of winter! I layered alternating pages of
acetate and chipboard to create a fun take on the ever popular stacked albums. This technique filled mini album features
stamping on acetate, lace cardstock, stickles and other fun details. I dry-brushed the edges of the acetate pages with blue paint
to make them “frosty”. I split a journaling spot between two chipboard pages with an acetate page in between—just a fun way to
make one journal spot stretch to two pages.
I also included a special technique I like to use to create pockets in chipboard books. Cut a piece of chipboard to 6” x 7”. Cut a
strip of chipboard to 3” x 7” to form the pocket front. From chipboard scraps, cut strips of chipboard about ¼” wide or smaller.
Adhere the strips to the 3” x 7” piece of chipboard to form a “U” – along the bottom and the two sides but not along the top.
Insert the pocket front into the Bind-It-All and punch holes on the 3” side as if it were simply a 3” wide page. I like to use the “C”
setting to ensure all of my inner pages match up perfectly with one another. Punch binding holes in the 6” x 7” page as well.
Adhere the pocket front to the page, lining up the binding holes. The pocket sits far enough away from the page to allow easy
insertion of thicker items or several different items but is still slim enough that the book lays flat when closed.

My mom has another grandchild on the way and you know how grandmas are—they always need photos of the grandbabies to show off to friends and family. I created this little book using a 3”x4” Cover-All. It’s the perfect size for Grandma to carry in the car or her purse or she can put it on her desk at work. And just in time for Mother’s Day too!
Since the cover was kraft colored, I simply added a scalloped circle with a stamped image in the middle, a bow, and a title with mini alphabet stickers. Then I Glimmer Misted the whole cover with Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist. No need to cover it with paper!
On the inside cover, I completely covered the book with suede paper (a type of flocked paper). Then I used a craft knife to cut open the slit for the plastic sheet of the Cover-All to slide into. I used my finger to feel where the ridge of the pocket on the Cover-All started and then held a ruler there to cut a straight line with the knife. When I slid my book into the Cover-All I used a little bit of glue to permanently secure the book into the Cover-All.
I cut some coordinating, double sided papers into 3” x 4” pages using the DreamKuts. After binding the pages together (including a few acetate and envelope pages) I added some cropped black and white photos of the grandkids to the pages. I added a few rub-ons and within 30 minutes I had a Mother’s Day gift for Grandma!
Supplies:
Cover-All, ½” Antique Copper O-wires – Zutter
Patterned Paper – Cosmo Cricket
Ribbon – Polka Dot Whimsy
Glimmer Mist - Tattered Angels
Alphabets Stickers – making Memories
Rub-ons – Dream Street
Acetate – Accu-Cut
Envelopes- OfficeMax
Border Punches – Fiskars
Stamps – Basic Grey
Glitter – Martha Stewart Crafts
Ink – Close to My Heart, Colorbox
Suede Paper - SEI
