Mount Everest to Tingri (Shegar), Tibet

From the May 2016 trip to Thailand and Cambodia:

On the first full day of touring Bangkok, we went to Wat Phra Kaew in the morning, then had a wonderful lunch (tom ka gai, cashew nut chicken) before walking directly south to Wat Pho (which abuts the Royal Palace).

Personally, I preferred Wat Pho to Wat Phra Kaew…mainly due to there being fewer tourists. (The admission to Wat Pho is also one fifth of that to see Wat Phra Kaew, at only 100 baht. Still…$15 for one and $3 for the other isn’t a huge deal.)

Wat Pho also has slightly more variety to me. Lonely Planet says it has the “city’s largest reclining Buddha.” (Having seen it, I’d guess it’s among the largest in the country, and I’m curious to know where a larger one may be…) It also has the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand and the country’s earliest center for public education (also both per LP).

The nice thing for me is that Wat Pho is the national headquarters for the teaching and preservation of traditional Thai medicine and massage. I gladly let them practice on me for 420 baht (barely $10).

Wat Pho also gives a free bottle of ice water with admission, which was great considering we were here in the afternoon on a close-to-100-degree day. After having visited both places, I considered the touristy part of Thailand done, and was glad to head back to the guesthouse for a quick nap in a wonderfully air-conditioned room before going out to Thanon Khao San for the evening.

Zigzag Anklets by Pam Grushkin

I used the zigzag quilt pattern using Amanda Jean's technique combined with Moda Bake Shop's technique by adding triangles to the edges. I didn't want to blunt the points of the zigzag. The only thing I noticed with the way I made this quilt is the zigzags don't match in length at both ends. I thought about adding a square to the shorter end however I had already pieced the triangles to the sides. It was too late to add the squares to the short ends.

Amanecer en Es Figueral en ZigZag.

Un día raro con mucha neblina tapando el Sol matutino.

I've sees some amazing sunrises, but this one is certainly at a high position. The higher clouds seemed to form a zigzag pattern starting at the rising sun.
