When relaxation is turning into hecticness. The photos I was here for are all in the box. I'm sitting cozy on a rock enjoying my coffee and a cigarette. Suddenly this hot-air ballon is emerging absolutely unexpected directly behind the bridge. I spill all of my coffee and start running. Altogether I had about 10 seconds for composing, focussing and shooting. After that the ballon had left the frame upwards. Photographing should be accredited as a form of sport.
Wenn aus Entspannung plötzlich Hektik wird. Die Fotos, wegen denen ich hier war sind im Kasten und ich sitze gemütlich auf einem Felsen und genieße meinen Kaffee und eine Zigarette. Plötzlich taucht völlig unerwartet direkt hinter der Brücke dieser Ballon auf. Ich hab meinen Kaffee verschüttet und bin losgerannt. Insgesamt hatte ich 10 Sekunden Zeit für Komposition, Fokussieren und Fotografieren, dann war er nach oben entschwunden. Man sollte Fotografieren als Sportart anerkennen.
What a wonderful view point - well-known from the Marlboro commercial, which, in addition to cigarettes, primarily sold an attitude to life of adventure and freedom...
We parked our yuppie SUV a few miles from the viewpoint and hiked the rest of the way - more than worth it.
And as if we wanted to shoot a promotional video, an off-road vehicle appeared after us - brand - "there can't be any rock blocking my way" - and fittingly with a strapped surfboard...
The driver - brand hippie from the 70s - then calmly sat down with a folding chair on the edge of the cliff, smoked a cigarette (probably Marlboro) and enjoyed the view with loud music from Pink Floyd - "Shine On You Crazy Diamond".
The whole thing was like from another planet and so we enjoyed this unique view with the best music - how crazy does that sound :-) and indeed it was...

Was für ein wunderbarer Aussichtspunkt - bekannt aus der Marlboro Werbung, die ja neben Zigaretten vor allem ein Lebensgefühl von Abenteuer und Freiheit verkauft hat...
Wir stellten unseren Yuppie SUV ein paar Meilen vor dem Viewpoint ab und wanderten die restliche Strecke - mehr als lohnenswert.
Und als hätten wir ein Werbevideo drehen wollen, tauchte nach uns ein Geländewagen auf - Marke - "mir kann doch kein Fels den Weg versperren" - und passend dazu mit einem aufgeschnallten Surfbrett...
Der Fahrer - Marke Hippie aus den 70ern - setzte sich dann in aller Seelenruhe mit einem Klappstuhl an den Rand der Klippe, rauchte eine Zigarette (wahrscheinlich Marlboro) und genoss die Aussicht bei lauter Musik von Pink Floyd - "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". Das Ganze war wie von einem anderen Stern und so genossen wir diese einmalige Aussicht bei bester Musik - wie verrückt klingt das :-) und es war tatsächlich so...

Der Duft einer Blüte kann die Sinne betören und man entdeckt in der Ferne neue Welten. Oder war es diese komische Zigarette die meine Enkelin mir hinhielt und sagte: „Opa, zieh mal dran“. ;-))
The scent of a flower can bewitch the senses and you can discover new worlds in the distance. Or was it this strange cigarette that my granddaughter held out to me and said: "Grandpa, pull on it". ;-))

Not long before sunset the monks placed candles and oil lights in preparation for a special evening ceremony. The mindful acrobatics in placing the lights across the ancient temple produced some remarkable sights in golden hour.
I had real trouble deciding a title for this image here. 'Candle dance' was one contender and 'mindful balance' another, but i felt it conflicted with the cigarette. I even asked for input in an FB group, with the best suggestion there 'soon flying angel' :)
Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Rajaworaviharn, also known as Wat Phra Prang, was built over 700 years ago in the Angkor style, when the area was still under the influence of the Khmer empire ruled from Angkor. The temple is part of the Si Satchanalai Historical Park, which together with associated sites in Sukhothai and Kamphaeng Phet is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
