A macro of a lemon zester for Macro Mondays' theme "sharp". Using manual focus while I tried out different compositions, I was quite fascinated by the different types of bokeh I was seeing ... I'll do something with those images another time.

Die besondere Anziehungskraft der Mohnblume berührt uns jedes Jahr aufs Neue. Sie steht für Liebe und Leidenschaft – genauso aber auch für Trauer und Gedenken.
Eine Besonderheit der Mohnblume ist die leuchtend rote Blüte mit ihrer „Knitter-Optik“ und dem schwarzen Samenstand.
Der Mythos über die Entstehung des Mohns aus den Tränen der Aphrodite ist interessant. Es wird erzählt, dass er mit dem Wunsch wuchs, der trauernden Göttin „wohltuendes Vergessen des Kummers“ zu bringen. Sie wollte Adonis vergessen. Der Mohn erfüllte Aphrodites Erwartungen, denn das Vergessen war so gründlich, dass die Göttin sich bald nicht mehr an Adonis erinnerte und sich glücklich neuen Liebesherausforderungen widmete.
Alle Pflanzenteile des Mohns sind, Aufgrund ihre Alkaloide – wenn auch nur schwach – giftig.
Aus dem Saft des Klatschmohns wurden schon seit dem Altertum Heroin und Opium gewonnen. Das darin enthaltende Morphium wirkt schmerzlindernd und schlaffördernd.
In der Mythologie, insbesondere die Griechen assoziierten die Mohnblume mit Morpheus, dem Gott des Schlafes.
Als Arzneipflanze wurde der Schlafmohn mittlerweile von anderen Naturheilmitteln abgelöst. Er wird aber weiterhin als Backzutat verwendet.

A special feature of the poppy is the bright red flower with its "creased look" and the black seed head.
The myth of the origin of the poppy from Aphrodite's tears is interesting. It is said that he grew with a desire to bring "benevolent forgetfulness of sorrow" to the grieving goddess. She wanted to forget Adonis. The poppy fulfilled Aphrodite's expectations, because the oblivion was so thorough that the goddess soon no longer remembered Adonis and happily devoted herself to new love challenges.
All parts of the poppy plant are poisonous, albeit weakly, due to their alkaloids.
Heroin and opium have been extracted from the juice of the poppy since ancient times. The morphine it contains has a pain-relieving and sleep-inducing effect.
In mythology, especially the Greeks, the poppy was associated with Morpheus, the god of sleep.
As a medicinal plant, the opium poppy has now been replaced by other natural remedies. However, it is still used as a baking ingredient.

A long view into Mount Zirkel Wilderness from the North Park area in northern Colorado. It's some sublime country...
A pair of fresh EMDX SD70ACe-T4s lead KCS train M-KCVN through Hartford, IL on UP's Springfield Sub. This train represents one of the first, if not THE first, well-lit runs of these leasers on KCS, which will reportedly get a total of 30 units through early 2020.
Thanks to SS for the heads up and Troop 94 for concluding their flag-raising ceremony in a timely fashion. Me and the kid were able to intercept this train at Godfrey, then beat him to this overpass just north of Lenox tower. Unfortunately, he went into deep hiding at Venice yard and no further shots were possible.
