The rays of the setting autumn sun warm the trunk of a beech tree at the end of its life.

One of its branches has long since broken off.

Moss is settling on the decaying wood and soon mushrooms will sprout there.

At some point the wood will have decayed into humus, which will perhaps become the nursery for a beech child.

 

Die Strahlen der untergehenden Herbstsonne wärmen den Stamm eine Buche am Ende ihres Lebens.

Einer ihrer Äste ist schon lange abgebrochen.

Auf dem zerfallenden Holz siedelt sich Moos an und bald werden dort Pilze sprießen.

Irgendwann wird das Holz zu Humus zerfallen sein, der vielleicht die Kinderstube für ein Buchenkind wird.
