It was a nice, cold early morning at this famous windmill village. While it was a pity that there was no fog on the water, that there were no clouds to take on any sunrise colours and that there were still a lot of fences from a national event the day before, I don't really think I can complain with a result like this.

Zaanse Schans open-air museum.

This world famous area takes you back in time and take you past wooden half-timbered houses, enormous clogs, authentic farms and mills. The special place is surrounded by nature. This peace of earth is worth more than a visit.

ZAN"S OF NEW BABBAGE and Stealhead Bay

Zaanse Schans, Netherlands

While we were only in Zaanse Schans for a short time the sky was so dynamic the whole time; changing from overcast and looking like rain to bright and sunny. I like the moodiness of this shot.

Zaanse Schans is a neighbourhood of Zaandam, near Zaandijk. It is best known for its collection of well-preserved historic windmills and houses. From 1961 to 1974 old buildings from all over the Zaanstreek were relocated to the area.
