The day we visited the Majorelle Garden was Yves St. Laurent’s birthday, in celebration of which entry was free. There was a huge lineup o get in, but as we were with a guide we bypassed the lineup.
The Majorelle Garden (French: Jardin Majorelle) is a botanical garden in Marrakech, Morocco. It was created by the French Orientalist artist, Jacques Majorelle over almost forty years, starting in 1923. The property was the residence of the artist and his wife from 1923 until their divorce in the 1950s. In the 1980s, the property was purchased by the fashion designers, Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé who worked to restore it. Today, the garden and villa complex is open to the public. The villa houses the Islamic Art Museum of Marrakech, the Berber Museum and has recently opened the Musee Yves Saint Laurent.

As a dedication to Yves Saint Laurent by his life time compagnon Pierre Bergé, an exposition is hold on his clothes inspired on Morocco, a country he loved so much.
Yves Saint Laurent was always aware of the deep influence of Morocco on his creations and the costume richness of this country. Out of the traditional djellabah, jabador, burmous, tarbouch...he created silouettes in his very proper style. This exposition, proposed and directed by Pierre Bergé, is an hommage of Yves Saint Laurent to the inhabitants of this country, to the sky and light of Marrakech.
Till the 18th of March this wonderful exhibition can be seen at the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech, from the 15th of April till the 17th of July it will move to the Villa des Arts Foundation in Casablanca.
