Big Mama and her brood of six youngin's stopped by for a visit tonight. They are such a busy bunch! I have to keep my laughter level low, so I don't wake up the neighbors!!

This is one of the babies.

These two old GP15-1's are at rest in Waukegan, IL on a Sunday afternoon back in 1992. About sixteen years earlier the 4410 was brand new and on display at the RSA in Chicago, September of 1976 to be exact. See what sixteen years of life on the railroad does to you? Just think of us poor souls who have over thirty years of that life, yikes! All of you railroad youngins, just look what you have to look forward to. Seniority is well earned and deserved.

Playing peek-a-boo is one of a 22-month old's favorites. Playing in a box from a new toy is another. Eli combined both into a great game!

andre when he was a youngin :3

(andre is my dad, in case you were curious.)

Was revisiting my pictures of this Canada Goose Family from a couple years ago and decided this one is a keeper. Taken at Hidden Pond Nature Center is Springfield VA. Canada Goose (Branta canadensis).

When you're 5, the world is all about you and how you fit in. My world was our back yard. It was mine and as far as I could see was trees. Like I said, we didn't have friends and no one came to see us. The trees and my back yard were my friends.

The three men that came that evening were not my friends and they were in my world without an invitation.

Mom made us go inside but we watched from behind the screen door, feeling as if that flimsy barrier would protect us. Mom stood there with her squirrel rifle in her hands and called out, "What gives you the right to come up in here and order us to get out of our house? I'm paid up for the month and we don't cause no trouble back here all by ourselves. Who are you anyway?"

"We're the Steven's from down the road to the Harris Crossroads." said the taller young man who seemed to be the older of the three. "Our Paw said to come tell you that the loggers are coming in here tomorrow and you better git out if you don't want to get hurt. He know'd you got youngins livin up here."

And so at the age of 5 in the fall of 1956 we left our house and my forrest of friends to live with Grandma in the city. A place full of people and the end of our seclusion.

Returning now to find our house still standing takes me back to memories of slamming back doors and the night my world transformed forever.

With two youngins,we didn't go anywhwere last night and I slept through the sunrise so I offer this.

Trying to get these youngins to line up for a group shot is impossible and the rainy weather wasn't helping. This reminded me of my wife when she tries to take a class picture of her students, someone is never in the right spot. Not sure what kind of cattle these are. The adults have longer horns, but not as long and crazy as the Texas Longhorn? (but maybe they are?)

The dress is gorgeous...but not green screen friendly....lol So I wasn't trying to hide the gown because I didn't like the gown......getting my background out of that lace was a bitch!!! It also comes with pretty sheer arm bands and a veil......but again...there was just no way those were going to work with a screen:(

It's also a lot lighter.....my finishing filters darkened it up a tad....

Completely off topic.......but I am beyond sad hearing of Corey Haim's death.......I had the BIGGEST crush on him when I was a youngin'....and Lost Boys is still my most favorite movie EVER!!! Just watched it last weekend in fact.......that soundtrack defined my tween years and Keifer Sutherland puts these "new" vampires out now to shame...lol

There are certain movies that embody our youth...actors that, no matter what they are doing now, when you hear their names, you immediately get thrown back in time.....The Corey's were two of those for me......Christian Slater, John Cusack, Demi Moore, Charlie Sheen....those were my teen idols...lol Legend of Billie Jean was my favorite girl power movie and yes....I had huge bangs and wore stonewash jeans........with lots and lots of holes in them.....LOL Drove my mom nuts!

Man........sad day:(

The gates are closed during the winter, but the path is still open to Enger Tower. With the new renovations recently, the park now has illumination at night. (Not Completed Yet). It makes for a nice evening walk up to the tower, and lookout pavilion.

I was mostly alone, but for a family that I ran into, me on my way in, they on their way out for dinner, and back to the twin cities. In case they found my photo stream, then this a memento of their trip.

The lighting of the tower a bit odd, a sort of purple cast to the light, and the sky overcast adding a warm tone, gives an unusual look.

On the way out, some rowdy youngins' showed up, I left them to enjoy it their way! : )

I am super proud of this. Using flash with the Mamiya is a whole different game. No TTL metering is a pain. There are more and I will upload them later, But this is great. Yancey is also pretty great. She is one of my favorite youngin's.

Saw lots of Swainson's Hawks this morning, mostly juveniles. Love the youngin's, they almost always let you get some shots.

Purple Martin with a substantial breakfast for the youngins. Green Darner Dragonfly.

More from the farm outside of Capron. It is calving season and these Cows were keeping an eye on me and making sure I didn't offer a threat to the youngins.

A milkweed seed pod with all, or nearly all of the next generation dispersed on the wind. To my eye, handsome even in decay. I look forward to welcoming the next generation this summer.

Iv'e been having crazy mood swings - stay away from me.

all the photos are of me when i was a youngin, for realss

this isn't even that nice aha.....

It was a year ago today my Dad passed away. I miss him so much. I miss his laughter and fun loving pranks. I miss talking to him and going out with our buckets and shovels digging up wild flowers together. I miss him puttering around in the yard. I miss hearing him ask me "What are you up to youngin' ?" My Dad was my best friend and we stood by each other no matter what.

I love you Dad. I know in my heart I'll see you again.

I do not know what happened with this youngin ' ... it was filthy and muddy! Still a Pinkie and still most beautiful!

Cruising down Sauk Trail heading home I saw the beast coming toward me last minute. We were both doing the limit and snapped a quickie. Not many Hendrickson's floating around. My dad drove one when i was a youngin

We are getting in a new foster tomorrow. A 7-month-old female puggle. Never fostered or had a puggle before so kind of excited about that. Our four mixed foster puppies start leaving this coming weekend!

I'm going to seriously start working with Solo on her attitude when we're away from the house. Most of you that I consider my close friends know exactly what I'm talking about and I'll probably let everyone else know later. It's nothing real bad but it's frustrating. <:

We also found a deaf senior Dalmatian for adoption in Milwaukee. We were considering adopting him.. but he has arthritis and with his age and pain I don't think he'd appreciate all of our youngin's because they can get REALLY obnoxious. Misty doesn't even have a great tolerance level at her age.

I love you Flickr.

Finished up work early Tuesday expected to spend some time in my cute shorts and top. Found my wife already home. So I said I was going to take a shower and I figured what the heck the youngins wont be home till after dinner so I follow through with plan "A". When I came down the stairs she gave me such a look and said I'm "pushing it". I retreated back upstairs and changed into my big boy clothes. When I came down she told me next time I wear those shorts I had better iron them first...

Big Mama came by with her whole brood of youngins last night. The first few times she came, she only had 5 babies. The last two times, she's had six with her. My goodness, they are such a busy little bunch! Can't help but laugh when watching them run around the yard!

Tiptoeing through the forest, I find a beaten path. The path is obstructed by a tree that won't let me pass. My survival skills kick in, or maybe I'm superhuman. I crouch down low, spring, I'm flying wohoo win!

My obstacle is complete, now time to find a treat. This tree I found in the backwoods, a tree oh so neat. And trees in the background birch white and deep black. I'm used to 70ft pines dripping sap on my back. But maybe this tree I find, a spruce or lilac. Wait, isn't a lilac a flower, I got beat by a bat.

Now I have a decision to make, crowd the tree or photoshop fake. I decide to crowd the tree, title it "Profile of a Youngin'" I did dat yap. Yappidy yap, don't talk back, a tree's in the house and he's a sap yieldin' chap.

Cranked ISO way up and steadied for a 1/15sec exposure to catch this youngster curled up for a nap outside the den. Red fox kit (Volpes volpes)

Some of my best friends and I running around outside school. A shame it didn't make the yearbook...

Happy Week Everyone!

Happy Birthday to my 32 year old baby!

Time mooooooooves so quickly.

ENJOY your youngin's!

(and remember not to cut off your ear to spite your face!)...sorry...I'm being way too utterly silly for a Monday morning!

“At first, I only laughed at myself.

Then I noticed that life itself is amusing.

I've been in a generally good MOOD ever since.”
