The most popular route from Wensleydale to Swaledale is to drive up over Buttertubs Pass. But coming back towards Wensleydale I decided to take a very steep, winding and narrow country lane (appropriately known as Cross Top) that took me up the side of Swaledale and over Askrigg Common, before descending into the village of Askrigg in Wensleydale. The lane ran alongside Oxnop Common on the southern side of Swaledale where the dry stone walls, small stone farmhouses and stone barns are a feature of this classic Dales landscape.
We had a wonderful week away in Yorkshire didnt use the camera much but did manage a few shots if you haven,t been i would recommend it stunning landscapes around every corner
Having watched this train load and then pursued it down the Rylstone branch, 60085 looks to make light work of its load of crushed Limestone.
Framed with some more Yorkshire Stone just south of Cononley Station.

The valley of Burdale in Spring is near to Wharram Percy the medieval village on the Yorkshire Wolds
The Yorkshire Wolds are low hills in the old region of the East Riding of Yorkshire and the now the County of North Yorkshire, England.
Most of the Wolds takes the form of an elevated, gently rolling plateau, cut by numerous deep, steep-sided, flat-bottomed valleys of glacial origin. The chalk formation of the hills provides exceptionally good drainage, with the result that most of these valleys are dry; indeed, surface water is quite scarce throughout the Wolds.
