unfortunately it was a gloomy day: it rained all afternoon and the light was terrible. most of the pictures i've taken were pretty lousy.

Chinese New Year Celebrations.

Taiwan Lantern Festival 2016 was held in Taoyuan. It was incredible from beginning to end. The amount of people that attended was STAGGERING.

But the lanterns were all incredible and we had a great time. I love the festive nature of these events and the amazing color on display.

Was a trip worth taking.

Sun sets on the last day of the year of the goat, has to be one of the best sunsets I've ever seen here in Hong Kong.

So nice to get clear weather like this in the winter.

Today, I managed to catch a couple of shots of Joshua "tidying" up one of our kitchen cupboards! However, he insisted going through to the fridge and grabbing this tub of margarine to put in the kitchen cupboard! Each time I lifted it back out the cupboard and took it back to the fridge ... yes, Joshua marched back through to the fridge and grabbed it and went back to the cupboard!!

Oh, today he was a real cheeky little monkey but as always he's such a cutie and great fun!!

新年快乐

Happy Chinese New Year of the Fire Monkey!

An old Chinese proverb says: "If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody!"

Year of the Monkey of lanterns on the street

This is a First Day Cover I made for the 2004 Year of the Monkey commemorative stamp. I used a rubber stamp to decorate the envelope. The three little Funny Monkeys like this first day cover because it matches their colors.

Day 62 of 366.

I call this "monkey bar rings." The children may be playing on them this weekend. Temps in the upper 50's are expected.

Year of the Monkey

"People born in the Year of the Monkey are fun-loving, energetic and inquisitive. Their intellect allows them to adapt to any situation, they are confident, charismatic, loyal and inventive.

Sometimes, the Monkey can be a little too curious for his or her own good, as well as careless, restless, immature and arrogant."

Return of the Chinese New Year celebrations in Rotterdam after a one year absence. Festvities were held in the "China town" part of town, around the West- Kruiskade. The kick off was at Wijkpark Het Oude Westen. With the traditional Lion and Dragon Dances and martial arts.

This distinguished Indian gentleman wouldn't normally seem the type to be keen on a selfie, but the Buddhist temple in Chinatown has a lovely charm and calm that draws in tourists of all religions for a peek inside.

With the Lunar New Year coming up next week, the temple is literally shining: there was a temple staff working on the cauldron in the courtyard where devotees place their joss sticks seeking answers to prayers, a small toothbrush and some brass polish bringing back the original gleam for this special occasion.

It's no wonder the front-facing cameras on smartphones are getting better, they're getting used more than the rear-facing cameras!
