My last upload until October as I will be away on vacation until then. Taking a trip back home to the U.K. and hope to have lots of great stuff to process and upload when I return. Until then wishing everyone well and thanks to all my great contacts for your support.

This is the second of four shots I took of my latest toy. Been lots of fun so far and will be sharing more of its output when I return.

Entering the city. Which one I can't say. Burlington, Iowa, I suspect. Places merge into each other when on the road or rail. I was in the observation car as I remember and, I thought, far enough from the window edges to get a clear shot. At least I was close enough to the glass to avoid reflections.

Taking photographs from the window of a moving train in an exercise in going with the gut. There isn't time for analysis. You get set up, wait, and if it looks promising you shoot.

On Amtrak Train 5 two weeks ago on our way from Rochester to Iowa City.

Enough with the flowers already! I feel as if I am losing track of my original intent, which was to create B&W film images of things and places in PDX. Here we are with my trusty Yashica D in that mecca of technology known as the Apple Store in PDX.

I was not the only one shooting film. She was there with a gorgeous Mamiya on a tripod. I might do that next time. Except that I was having as much fun watching the spectators as the spectators were watching the parade.

Saturday, July 16, I walked in the Rochester, NY Pride parade with a group from the Irondequoit United Church of Christ. The parade felt like a city-wide celebration. All shapes, sizes, and ages welcome.

Looking East at Fremont East District with the Fremont Street Experience to my back.

This shot was kind of a mistake. Still had the aperture set to 3.5 and was going for a 15 second exposure when I realised. I closed the shutter at about 6 seconds and was rewarded with this shot. Happy days!

Often when I shoot, this is the scene behind me! My poor wife waiting around for me :)

This is looking west at the Fremont Street Experience. No light show going on at the moment but you can see the canopy in the background. A lot of film shooters like Ektar 100 and a lot complain about its cold tones. To counter this, I removed a little of the blue cast in PS. Also, I pretty much messed this shot up by not metering correctly for incident light on the face. Lesson learned. Included a black & white version too.

We got down to Stony Brook State Park last month. The gorge trail was still closed off. I walked up(!) and along the east rim trail.

There are two sets of abandoned railroad bridge piers and footings, the old ones of concrete and the really old ones of cut stone.
