Its days on the mainline all but behind it, a faded former Santa Fe Dash 9 shuffles around Northtown Yard on a yard job. Many of these now-elderly GEs are hauling out their last miles in and around Northtown as RCO units. If the scrawls on the nose are indicative, their insides are about as decrepit as their exterior.

UP YPR60B emerges out of Grand Avenue Yard behind the #815 long-hood forward passing Prairie Materials Yard 32. One of the largest concrete suppliers in Chicago, Yard 32 supplied over 5,000 cubic yards of concrete in under 24 hours during the construction of Trump Tower (seen in the background) using a fleet of 30 trucks each making nearly 600 round trips. Alas, the facility gets all of its shipments by barge.

It's just past 8pm on another hot Georgia evening as Norfolk Southern local job G89 pulls from Whitaker Yard in Austell, GA behind a pair of GP60's.

There are ten 66s in the yard - I'm not going to try and give all the numbers, though a few of the likeliest are in the tag box. A shunter is about to run a few covered wagons into the works. An IEP is in the distance on the main line.

A Union Pacific ES44AC and Norfolk Southern SD40-2 3402 brought this freight into Enola Yard on a drab morning in June 2014. If my memory is right and going by the empty WIMX hoppers, this train originated at Millard Quarry in Annville, PA on the Harrisburg Line.

Another shot of Royal William Yard in Plymouth taken just after sunset on the August Bank Holiday. The sky was just hitting the blue hour but there was still a tiny bit of pink left over from the setting sun.

I have big problems with Flickr for the last 12 hours or so - it takes ages for the pages to open - if at all, so please bear with me if I am slow to visit you.

We started getting a little snow after dinner. I put the camera on a tripod and shot this 8 second exposure out the window. The yard is completely dark to my eye but the camera picks up the lighting from the park behind us.
