My very precious "tool". :-)

Septiembre, mes de la Patria. 🇲🇽

An experiment in photo-styling. Used a small glass to get the red controller above the others

Macro Monday's Theme "Toys/ Games"

This is an X Box Game Controller" I cross lit the subject using a flashlight with a red plastic bag over it and a desk lamp opposite.

Happy Macro Monday

Tomorrow is Luc's (my first-born) 14th birthday – and this is Luc's "day-before-his-14th-birthday-portrait". Those of you who have been following me on Flickr for a while might know that I make a portrait of my boys on the day before their birthday every year. It's my longest running and most personal photographic project. While I make images of my boys all year round these particular portraits tend to get a little more thought and attention than the others. I try to imbue these images with a sense of what is happening with them at this point in their lives.

The last few years have been about Luc's transition from chlid to teen but this year he's solidly into his teens. Common signifiers of contemporary teenage life have appeared in his portrait this year: a messy room he calls his own, a penchant for electronics and the Internet that is stronger than ever before, and the start of high school. He's staying up later at night and as a result tends to sleep-in more than he ever did before. Which means we see him wearing pyjamas later and later during the day.

The changes Tracy and I see in him these days shock us on an almost daily basis. In some ways he's growing at a rate similar to when he was an infant. No matter how much he grows though, he'll always be our baby. Happy birthday sweet boy.

Xbox 360 Arcade GameStick by MadCatz

The Arcade GameStick came with

-Frogger (Full Game)

-Time Pilot (Full Game)

-AstroPOP (Full Game)

-48 hour Xbox 360 Live trial

This controller, that resembles old school Atari controllers comes with some extra features that a standard 360 controller does not come with. A spinner control, 1,2,3 switch, and Turbo button.

The controller works with every Xbox game, but is most fun with Arcade games like Asteroids, AstroPOP, or fighting games like Street Fighter. Ive also tried it with community games like World Revolution. Though the controller looks very fun, it does take some getting used to.

Sadly I had a hard time playing games like Missile Command. The Joystick was a bit to sensitive. If there's anyone out there who knows how to mess with the sensitivity please post a comment.

Overall, its a good controller and is listed at the risky price of $39.99

Super busy month...lots of photos...no descriptions this time! :) Ask if you want to know!

This is another shot of the XBox controller for my work on Macro Monday's theme Games/Toys.

I used cross lighting for this shot also.

I managed to take this one with the X lit up in the iconic green of the Xbox game.

Well... ONE set spoils them by letting them sit in the leather recliners.=) That's right, score one for the good guys!

A shot of Khaos cuddled up in a chair with Sarah at my parent's house.

This is a screenshot from the game that I'm developing called "Jump".

Because this is a static image, I'll tell you what's really stationary and what's not: In this shot, the blue cubes are standing still and the dark thin rectangles are moving in random directions (one of the following; up , down , left , right , forward , backward) at high speed. The background is a sphere which is slowly spinning clockwise.

The game is set in a 0g environment. You can jump from object to object in the game (including the moving walls) in order to move. If one of the walls hits you, you will stick to it as if it was standing still (feature, not incomplete physics).

I'm not done with the game yet, but when I am I hope to have multiplayer and make it a 3D FPS platformer. I already have shooting working; if you shoot while jumping, it will knock you off course and you will be adrift indefinitely if your course is not corrected.

This is written in C# using Microsoft's XNA framework. The models were made in 3D Studio Max, and the shaders were written in HLSL.

I mainly prefer to use the Xbox360 controller for this, but I have a PlayerInput class that is initialized using four booleans: usingMouse , usingKeyboard , usingXboxController , usingWiimote. The possible combinations for complete control are as follows: mouse and keyboard, only keyboard, xbox360 controller, wiimote without IR light, wiimote with IR light (much cooler). I'm using WiimoteLib for Wiimote control, but besides that 99% of this (the 1% involves Matrix multiplication for the shaders and camera) has been written by me. It currently weighs in at just over 3,500 lines of code.

All edible xbox and controller...for a very special customer :)

... so this was in my hand for a fair amount of the day. Tim decided to have a restful day today, too, though, so I did have to share it with him from time to time ;)

Here a proof shot for the free Windows/Xbox 360 wireless controller I got free from club.live.com

This photo was originally uploaded 5 years earlier on my first flickr account...before I forgot the login credentials for it, that is. Fortunately, that obstacle was overcome today.

My best mate doesn't even question me when i pick up a camera now, he just doesn't do anything.

Starting to treat my flickr as a time line, things that have more meaning, that i can look back on in a few years and take more from, instead of just a pretty picture.

Day 286 - Sackboys arent happy having to pose for this picture with an xbox controller.

Now with binocular zoom! Thanks to my friend Sam Meeks for giving me the

idea of literally putting in binoculars...they may or may not stay until the

final version, but for now I think they are hilariously awesome.

Mia practically lying on the Xbox controller being a daft kitty. She likes sleeping on her back.

This was a quickie made for my lovely nephew Scott as a pressie from me. Obviously he is a keen gamer, he has just been round with my sis to collect it and he was over the moon with it. He had no idea I was making one for him, it's just a small one as he is just having a couple of mates over for some gaming!!

I bought this, my second PSP, while Gamestop was having a 30% trade-in credit bonus. It's one of those new "PlayStation Portable Slim and Lites" or PSP-2000s or whatever you want to call it. One of the biggest reasons I got it was because I was able to hook it up to my TV with the component cables and play Final Fantasy Tactics again on the big screen.

Gamestop's inexpensive Xbox 360 Wired controller.

Some Facts.

-Wired Controller, compatible with Xbox 360, Xbox, and PC's.

-D-pad is well made. Unlike Microsoft's 360 controller, if you are scrolling down through the menus you don't have to worry about merging to the left or right.

-Triggers are thin, and feel rather low quality.

-Start and Select Buttons are placed in an awkward place, and sometimes make for uncomfortable play.

-Xbox button is flat, and the "Xbox" logo is represented by a sticker.

-Controller is overall light weight (which might be a good thing for some people)

-*Its only 19.99 at Gamestop, and is a good deal if you don't want to spend 49.99.*

-though it is compatible with a PC, I had trouble playing games like Half Life 2.
