I was meant to be focusing on the Blue Tit, but got distracted and focused on the branch in front instead. It worked out alright in the end though...
I had planned to take an IC225 to Edinburgh, but it wasn't to be. My train, which left from platform 0, was an IC125. Just one platform away, seen here in platform 1, was an IC225 set.
The Viking festival celebrating the 750th anniversary of the Battle of Largs is well under way, and I took a jaunt into Largs since I'd heard that there was going to be a Spitfire fly-past at the opening ceremony. My sources were wrong, but I did encounter this other utterly magnificent flying thoroughbred on the prom. It's a European Eagle Owl, being looked after and displayed by a company called Owl Magic. Even although this is an enormous bird, I managed (under the expert guidance of the keeper) to get so close that I had to use a 60mm macro lens on my Nikon D300s.

I was walking down by the river, and wanted a shot of the autumn leaves with the buildings on the far bank. Then realised I hadnt brought my wider lens with me... But I like the resulting colours.
after a quarter mile this road broke down. after another mile i decided "this can't be right". turned around, tried one that cut off, nope. turned around again came back past the road i came in on and further up found the right one. funny, this one had taken off at the right angle and right direction.
BNSF 5333 runs wrong main under the signal bridge in Joliet, IL due to maintenence in the way on main one at high sun...

This is/was apparently an Apothecary (or similar thing - who knows with translations!?). Lovely painted exterior, but I got the impression it was now empty.
Its very rare that you see a Stagecoach Supertram with the wrong destination screen - presumably tram 105 was running a Purple service from Herdings, changed to a Yellow service to Meadowhall but the driver input the wrong "Yellow" destination?
This is part of fatal head on accident on the Beeline Highway just south of Gilbert Rd. The driver of this truck was an illegal immigrant and was intoxicated. He was traveling the wrong way on the Beeline and struck a Toyota passenger car killing one of the occupants.
Had a fascinating tour today of some of the historic parts of the building I work in.
One of the unusual features is the original maquette for the statue which stands on the column in Trafalgar Square.
The historian who showed us round told us that the full size one differed from the maquette in one detail. Following a lightning strike in the 1880s, his accurate naval officers sword was replaced with what she called a dragon slayer model!
No photography allowed in this part of the office, so I took the full size one when I went to check her story.
