Three photos with the same writeup....

This is my favorite open-field at sunrise location, on Mulliken Road a couple miles south of town. You can see for a couple miles, looking east, while the trees and structures (and even the telephone poles) give you elements to structure a photograph that isn't just open fields.

I've mentioned, from time to time, my shoot-reframe-refocus-shoot-repeat photographic habits. Here's an excellent example. In just over a minute I shot fifteen photographs with four distinct framings, with minor settings changes between most of the snaps. All were shot from the same location and in generally the same direction, though I panned from northeast to southeast over the session.

This is how I work, folks.

A writeup of my trip here.

The Moscow airshow (officially called the Moscow International Aviation and Space Salon) is like a Cold War spies wet dream. Most of the current russian airforce makes an appearance, along with some of the other exotic stuff that you dont get to see so often on the other side of the curtain.

Eleanor's writeup from the SPCR website:

ELEANOR…is a darling SEAL POINT SIAMESE. She is 2 years old, spayed and has her claws. She weighs a slim 7 pounds and has an easy, short coat and bright blue eyes. Eleanor came to us from a local shelter and was, as her foster mom describes her, “fur and bones.” She was very ill from her time at the shelter but through the constant TLC of her caregiver she has made a full recovery and is certainly ready for her FurEver Home! Eleanor is a very SMART, busy, playful kitty who is always on the move and loves to be by her people (Very social!). She is a bit talkative and likes to be a part of whatever is going on. Currently she is not a lap cat (too busy!) but that could change as she gets older. She loves to be pet and is quite affectionate. Eleanor will probably be fine with other pets as long as she is slowly and properly introduced. She did get used to the dog in her foster home, and though she tends to be dominant with other cats she would probably be fine with an easy-going male. Eleanor is very gentle with her playing and would be a good family cat with respectful kids.

Cherry Island Landfill, Wilmington, DE

These photos are from last year, and here is a writeup of what was then my first landfill trip : )

"My first visit to a Landfill for the sake of birding (Thanks to Mike Smith for leading the trip). Though maybe not the most pleasant place to be, there were GULLS. Lesser Black-backed Gulls were nearly as numerous as the Great Black-backs. A good number of Laughing Gulls have also arrived. The real treat, of course, were 2 first-winter Iceland Gulls and 1 first-winter Glaucous Gull. A brief foray to the ponds at the neighboring wastewater treatment plant (Hey - does this place get any better?) produced hundreds of ducks, including many alternate male Ruddy Ducks. Gorgeous."
