Since I mentioned my brother-in-law in the Bubbles writeup it seemed appropriate to share a photo of our host. Here he is.
==========
This photograph is an outtake from my 2021 photo-a-day project, 365^4.
Fox News has been infecting computers at my work. It looks like it is popping up through the ads. This is what is being caught:

Eventually it takes over IE. I've been re-imaging the systems here, since it takes me only 20 minutes. This didn't happen when I tried the same test in IE8, and Chrome.
There is a full writeup of Richard Stallman talking about a free dital society over on my website.
Richard Stallman is something of a legend. He singlehandedly launched the Free Software movement, and the GNU project and has been campaigning for software freedom for almost as long as there have been usable home computers. I jumped at the opportunity to see him talk at the Institution of Engineering and Technology. His topic was "A Free Digital Society", and he spoke on the various problems — nonfree software, software as a service, invasion of privacy, and such — that are often ignored by the discourse of digital inclusion.

Look, folks, it's not the dolphins that get you wet. If you see pilot whales advertised in the writeup, you may want to sit further up. No, further than that.

Special Ceremony for New Year at Uto Shrine in Aomori City, Japan. Blog writeup: blueskyy-daniel.blogspot.jp/2014/02/special-ceremony-for-...
It's a simple, sweet quilt. I love that I had almost every fabric needed already on-hand. The backing fabric has arrived, so as soon as I tidy off my table, pinning and quilting shall begin.
I really need to do a writeup on this quilt, but ... I don't want to until I can say who it's for. :)

On MapBox there is a writeup on how to configure alternative maps on Managing News. You may want to check this out even if the map you're thinking of won't come from MapBox.
Decided to try out some off camera lighting at the recent Friday night meet. The results after a bit of playing around were great in my eyes and it really helps to make the car pop and give my photo's a bit of a difference to the norm.

I figured out how to non-destructively open up a DUPLO figure. The key is to remove the bar like element. This bar is 2.75L and 3.0mm at the ends but 3.2mm in the middle. You can clip stuff to the middle and poke the ends into Modulex. See the whole writeup at www.dagsbricks.com/2014/07/lego-techniques-duplo-figure-b...

Lenka Kripac and her band at DC9 - brief writeup at the Washington City Paper.
Please do not use without permission.
Unfortunately, it wasn't in the print edition, but an online extra.
My idea called for using a website, rather than an email address, as the contact one gives out, puts on business cards and so forth.
People would know how to find your website contact so when your email address fills up with spam, you can change it easily without having to inform all your contacts of your new address.
Make your website, rather than your email address, your contact as email addresses have to be discarded frequently when they fill up with spam.
Since then, the idea may be a bit obsolete, however.
Email providers, such as Yahoo Mail and Google, provide spam filtering. Still, this filtering is a bit clunky and doesn't always target the right things to filter out.
Since 2003 has come the advent of social media, such as Facebook. Algorithms on these systems tend to filter out bulk impersonal mailings, or at least they try to do that.
Algorithms to try and control the vast information overload we have.
Spam has still rendered regular email outside of things like Facebook to be nearly useless.
It's still easy to miss important communication in all the junk mail.
I have a unique perspective as I think of things during my custodial job. Being a custodian can be good for contemplation.
Was glad for this article of recognition.
Someone once said, to me, that junk mail and phone calls kept trying to sell him things he didn't need; like aluminum siding for his brick house.
I guess aluminum siding for brick has happened before.
