Little Owl - Athene Nocturna

The Little Owl eats mostly small mammals and birds, but will also feed on large invertebrates, such as beetles, crickets and worms.

This Little Owl peering over the tree stump reminded me of the WWII grafitti character Mr Chad, the UK equivalent of the US GI's Kilroy.

Mr Chad was a simple meme drawing of a man peeping over a wall showing just the top half of his face, with hands resting on the wall, and the added slogan "Wot, no sugar" or another commodity. He was bemoaning shortages and rationing that existed during the war. Perhaps we may see more Chad graffiti in the coming months :-)

"Nothing, just needed a photo of your head".

Hoping to catch a few lyrids but no joy. Amusingly, I saw one great fireball just as I was packing the camera away :-)

deep deep below the mountains where blue rivers flow to the left.

One of six (at the same time!) such visitors to the Wildlife Cafe feeders one day last week. A quick snap through the kitchen window as I liked the pose.

"SwampGas" a wonderfully named Custom Car at Fremantle Harbour, Western Australia.

Raerae on the windowsill - one of her favorite places. Usually hiding behind the net curtain spying on me. Here I've lifted the curtain uncovering the spy, and she's a bit surprised that I knew she was there, but trying to act cool 😍

Not quite what I was hoping to see at the dragonfly pond in Fryent Country Park! But I suppose a wallowing dog is better than nothing! Apparently this is what this fella does on a regular basis! He simply loves to wallow!

"WOT, NO PICTSIES" (If you know, you know) Taken on a walk in the woods around Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, Scotland

I had popped out to see a pal when I realised this working was heading my way. Without my camera I had to resort to my iPhone. Many swear by the quality of the phone cameras, but looking closely at the detail here it looks to me to be significantly inferior to the results I would expect from a DSLR. To make matters worse there was no visible exhaust. I should have expected this as the York to Wolverhampton special was due to make a scheduled water stop just half a mile down the track.

Given that a the outward leg passed within a couple of miles of where I live I did nip out this morning to phot this working. Believe it or not I haven't checked my results. Fingers crossed I might have something a little clearer than this to upload later.

.... now there's a question if ever there was one!

A bit of artistic licence involved here as I have removed the headboard and Class 57 on the rear of the train. 71000 " The Duke" at Chirk earlier this month.

"Good morning !"

WeeHIppo drops an obvious hint...

You hear it from the first day of photography class, "Don't cut their heads off". You hear it all through your career, "Don't cut their heads off". I'm like, "Oh really". "Screw the rules."

From my Off With Their Heads collection.

For Flickr followers, a special one from another world :))

The last time I did that I no doubt fell off my bike.

I must admit even though we have a procession of tractors passing our house I don't take a great deal of notice of them. Since my return from holiday I have noticed great numbers that instead of having a pair of rear wheels now use a tracked wheel arrangement. This particular one wasn't too sizeable but some appear twice the size with a double tracked wheel rather than the single one seen here.

Better still the farmer driving this one seems to be sat arms folded no doubt with the tractor being driven by some form of auto pilot.

This particular one was photographed by the Washington coast at Fir Island.

caught the strawberry eater this morning ,and heres me blaming the slugs ,juvenile blackbird about to get its beak back in .
