We saw the very worst in human beings this past Friday.

But after watching the news tonight, I thought we also saw the very best.

I was struck by the fellow in the cafe who put himself in front of a woman as a shield. He died, she lived because of him.

Or the man who pulled the pregnant woman who was hanging out the window of the second floor of the theatre. He put himself in potential danger to help a fellow human being.

There may be rough days ahead, but thankfully I think there is enough who rise above to get us through.

My previous post showed a prairie dog on high alert, mainly because this crazy photographer was sitting on the ground taking its picture. One of the reasons why they are so skittish. is prairie dogs are one of the favorite meals of golden eagles. A golden eagle will soar high above the ground, and with its keen eyesight, spot a potential meal below. Silently it will swoop down towards its unsuspecting prey. Shown here is the aftermath of the stalk. No, it's not pretty but nature can be very brutal.

My sincere thanks to all who spend the time to view, like or comment on my photos. It is much appreciated!

Alcohol May Be Man's Worst Enemy, But The Bible Says Love Your Enemy

(A Review of AKERUKA Ray Mesh Head)

Blog: satus.teleporthub.com/alcohol-may-be-mans-worst-enemy-but...

I went out in hopes of shooting the Eastbound 504 local, knowing a BN and an ATSF were the power. BNSF used their big brain and set up possibly the worst consist I had ever seen. A crusty GEVO lead a MACe, BN 40-2, ATSF Dash-9, and three clean swoosh geeps from yesterday's LINHAS.

A small consolation prize was a fairly clean ACe on the LINDEN.

But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.

“There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking.” Hagakuri

The worst snow I know of for northeast Oklahoma was in 2011 first of February, one of the few real blizzards in the history of the state. Just a couple of weeks after I started to photograph things and this was more than I dreamed for winter shots for Oklahoma anyway.

In street candid photography, the objective is to capture without being seen. Here I was not only spotted, but they had time to pull funny faces. And I underexposed the shot (pulled back in post).

Posted in response to one of my contacts who dared to publish his. Dare to post yours, so we can all share in the laughs!

Mess with my loved ones, I'll become your worst nightmare....

No more captures last night. As I was preparing dinner, a violent storm hit with high winds and then sheets of rain. Luckily I decided to not leave my camera on the tripod. Only the tripod got the worst of it.

Klamath is an unincorporated, rural, census-designated place (CDP) in Del Norte County, California, situated on US Route 101 inland from the mouth of the Klamath River. The original "town" center was destroyed by the 1964 Flood. Considered a 100-year flood, it was the worst flood in recorded history on nearly every major stream and river in coastal Northern California.

Dear Albany Drivers,

You are by far the worst parkers I have ever seen. It seems that you don't know it, but double parking IS ILLEGAL....and please, just quit hitting my car! If you can't park it, keep moving.

My entry for the FLICKR "Your Worst Shot 2020" group.

Hard for me to choose, as there are so many. I try hard to compensate for that problem with VOLUME. I think what happened here is I was foolishly using a monopod and ballhead with this unwieldy heavy lens - this choice in the interest of mobility.

Somewhere south of London, Ontario.

Today, under pressure from the kids, I entered Sesi, our white german shepherd in the annual village dog show. I was reluctant because frankly our dog is a nightmare. She's lovely, especially with children, but just so totally wired I tend to keep her away from other dogs.

So, I struggled into the ring with Sesi barking and straining on the leash, and was asked to parade her first (I guess so they could get rid of us). The judge was some Crufts winner who was evidently expecting dogs without manky matted hair behind the ears. In front of the crowd, she asked me to walk around the ring. I pulled this off, just about, but when I came back she asked me to prance.

'Pardon me?'

'Prance,' she said again. Only this time it sounded like an order.

At this point I felt a bit dizzy. I didn't want to let the kids down by refusing to do as I was told, but couldn't quite bring myself to do it. I did a half-hearted little skip and then stopped, which just made me look as if I'd hurt myself or something.

Anyway, we didn't win, or earn a certificate or anything at all. In fact, we had to take her home early for howling. But she's our dog, a big part of the family as well as my only work colleague, and didn't kill anyone. For this reason, I thought I would show her off here.

Well I'm not quite sure what happened here the shots either side which have identical exposure settings don't look like this. I was up near the Witches of Wardlow again this afternoon and it was getting dark. That's all I can say the rest is down to coincidence and supernatural powers.

Jon took care of the boy and used all the tricks he learned during his journey to smuggle the two of them back to their hometown. It was a long journey, yet with each step towards their families, they felt happier. But as Jon spotted his father he didn't even greet him properly. He shouted excitedly: "Father, father, Abdul..we have to take care...." Suddenly he saw how a tear ran down his father's cheek. "Son, how? Where have you been?", he stammered. Other people at the Marketplace recognised Jon and shouted: "He's back! And the kidnapped boy is with him! Jon is here!"

Jon's father said: "Jon whatever happened: Let's bring the blacksmith's son to his family. They're experiencing the worst time of their lives right now. Let's redeem them."

There are no Options anymore, sorry. There will be one final vignette soon :))

"All contact with the expedition has been lost. We fear the worst."

Having been stuck indoors for a few days and leaving for Washington, Quantico and New York shortly, just as the worst storm of the winter hits the East Coast of the USA, I decided to experiment and re-process some of my old photos. This was taken in 2013, on my wife's 50th and my children's 21st birthday, from the Highline in New York of the oft photographed Kobra wall mural. I duplicated the photo, converted it to b&w, created a layer mask and painted through the colours of the mural while leaving the rest of the photo in b&w, then merged the layers and finally ran everything through a bleach bypass to desaturate the colours and bring out detail in the stonework. Feedback welcome.

Kayaking around the ancient docks near Red Oak Victory

After one of the worst May's on record we had a spell of almost uninterrupted sunshine in June. So when time allowed (job hunting is a full time job these days) we headed out to our favourite field in Sarratt for some photographic opportunities. This field is covered in daisies and buttercups this time of year, though with the wet May they had bloomed about a month later on last year. We tend to go midweek to avoid as many people as possible, some using the field for the same photographic backdrop as we do. The next day the heavens opened and the rains came back as quickly as they had gone.
