Hi everyone and so hope that everyone who celebrated the Holiday had a great and wonderful time with friends and family, the worst is having your children and grand children to far away to visit, very sad indeed.
Thanks to all for everything.
I knew when I got out of bed this morning things were not just going to go right.

All animals in Africa bite, but the safari bug is the worst.
I take pictures because I like it, not because I am good at it.
The world is like a book and those, who do not travel, only read the first page.
If you only visit 2 continents in your lifetime, visit Africa, twice.

Ranked second worst freeze for Tulsa we are still below freezing and all is ice coated with a dusting of snow over it all so it is slick out. I know for those north of Tulsa that see snow for weeks this is nothing but it has the T town shivering for the mild winters the past 5 years.

But baby, I don't need no savior

♫♥♫Forever the sickest Kids - My Worst Nightmare♫♥♫
Well, you might as well hear the whole story on this guy. I was yanking up spent poppy plants in my yard and lo and behold a perfect green Monarch pupa dropped to the ground. I was horrified. There was some hope though - a tiny threadlike piece was still attached to the pupa top. My old mind started working. I can tie it back onto a plant of my choice. With what? Kitchen twine was the only thing that came to my panicked mind. So first I tied it to the pupa thread, and then onto a milkweed stem. It looked really beautiful and healthy. In fact, by the next day the transformation started as the color pigments inside began to show. I knew it would eclose the next morning and I began to visualize how I would photograph the tiny spectacle. I checked the next day early, inspected for a chink in the pupa, and decided I had time for breakfast and filling the bird feeder. Duties done, I gathered my camera gear, and expected I would settle onto a low stool and watch the wondrous show. Here's the "worst of times" part 2. It was already out. I missed probably by 10 minutes since the wings were already straightened out. He (yup, another boy) was hot to trot too - gone within another hour or so. To quote another piece of literature: "All's well that ends well."
My previous post showed a prairie dog on high alert, mainly because this crazy photographer was sitting on the ground taking its picture. One of the reasons why they are so skittish. is prairie dogs are one of the favorite meals of golden eagles. A golden eagle will soar high above the ground, and with its keen eyesight, spot a potential meal below. Silently it will swoop down towards its unsuspecting prey. Shown here is the aftermath of the stalk. No, it's not pretty but nature can be very brutal.
My sincere thanks to all who spend the time to view, like or comment on my photos. It is much appreciated!

Pulhapanzak waterfall, Honduras, taken under very challenging light and with water drops falling on the lens every now and then, best to visit in cloudy weather, but there won't be a rainbow in that case, anyway I visited on a weekday and had the whole place to myself, easily accessible by car though the road is a dusty pothole ridden mess for the last part.
Happy weekend to everyone.
The worst part of having patrol duty in an LL-608813 walker? The silly helmet they make you wear. Oh well, regulations are regulations.

“There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking.” Hagakuri
