Castle Reuversweerd dates from 1830 and is built in Empire style. Until 1933 it was well known for its stud farm. Baron Sytzama purchased the estate in 1941 but shortly thereafter the castle was occupied by the Germans who used it as a level transmittingstation. At the end of worldwar II the Canadians attacked the castle and damaged the exterior of the castle. During the same time Baron Sytzama was executed by the Dutch SS.
Since 1945 castle Reuversweerd is abandoned by the family Sytzama and they built a new farmhouse next to it. The castle itself was sealed and left to decay. There are two theories about the reason why the family abandoned Reuversweerd. One is that the costs of renovation were too high. The other theory is that after the Baron was executed the grieving widow ordered the castle to be sealed and stated that nobody was ever allowed to enter the building. Since then the castle has the reputation of being haunted. Some say the clock in the facade stopped at the moment Baron Sytzama was executed but when I look at the pictures I took it appears still to be running...

On May 4th 1945 at 2030 hours the BBC announced,much to the relief of soldiers that all German troops in north-west Germany,Holland and Denmark had surrendered . 4th wilts( Wiltshire regiment) who were posted at Belsen,Germany got this back home. These are grim reminder of the past , collected at Belsen concentration camps.
Ukraine UA (Instagram) 29 residential buildings and many more private houses were ruined by Russian airstrikes in Borodyanka, Kyiv region. Over month people were there under the occupation. After the battle for Kyiv in the beginning of March, bodies of residents were left under the rubbles. Only when the Russians retreated, rescuers could start clearing the town. Remembrance of the Dead ( of the Dutch: Dodenherdenking) is held annually on May 4 in the Netherlands. It commemorates all civilians and members of the armed forces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands who have died in wars or peacekeeping missions since the outbreak of Worldwar II.
Traditionally, the main ceremonies are observed in Amsterdam at the National Monument on Dam Square. This ceremony is usually attended by members of the cabinet and the Royal family, military leaders, representatives of the resistance movement and other social groups. At 8:00 p.m., two minutes of silence are observed throughout the Netherlands. Public transport is stopped, as well as all other traffic. Radio and TV only broadcast the ceremonies from 19.00 until 20.30. Since May 4, 1994, the flags, having hung at half-staff during the day, are then hoisted to the music of the "Wilhelmus", the Dutch national anthem. Since 2001 the new protocol says it is correct to let the flag hang half-staff.
The main celebrations in Amsterdam are broadcast by the public broadcasting company NOS, but there are ceremonies in other cities and places as well. Especially notable are those at the Waalsdorpervlakte near the Hague, where many Dutch resistance fighters were executed during the war, and at the war cemetery Grebbeberg, which are broadcast by the commercial broadcasting companies. In many towns, before or after the two minutes of silence, people gather around a monument, listen to speeches, and lay down flowers to remember the dead.

A DIFFERENT KISS*
A Different Kiss* is the very special event of the 'Nights - Stadt Nach Acht' conference on the 1920s.
It describes creation, lust and resistance in Berlin / Weimar Republic and remixes the roaring twenties with today's visions of a free danceable life. In an experimental way, performance and lecture elements flow into a vibrant multimedia show. The focus is on Berlin and the socio-cultural developments of the time, with a special perspective on the nightlife and erotic aspects.
The evening is designed by Wolfgang Sterneck, who performs together with Amy Daublebsky and Sissy Doutsiou (Athens). Annie O. will enrich the show with electro swing sounds.
The event will be held at the KitKat-Club, one of the world's most iconic and groundbreaking clubs. From the nineties to the present, the club stands for sex-positive and open minded electro parties that still leads the way.

The 1939–1945 Star is a military campaign medal, instituted by the United Kingdom on 8 July 1943 for award to subjects of the British Commonwealth for service in the Second World War. Two clasps were instituted to be worn on the medal ribbon, the Battle of Britain Claspand the Bomber Command Clasp.
The 1939-45 Defence Medal was a campaign medal of the British Commonwealth awarded for service during WW2 in accordance with the following eligibility criteria:
1. Service in the Forces in non-operational areas subjected to air attack or closely threatened, provided such service lasted for three or more years.
2. Non-operational service in the Forces overseas or outside the country of residence, providing that such service lasted for one year, except in territories threatened by the enemy or subject to bomb attacks, in which case it was six months.
3. Civil Defence or other similar service in military operational areas providing the civil category was not eligible for campaign stars.
4. The qualifying period of service in Mine and Bomb Disposal units was three months.
5. Those who were awarded campaign stars could also, provided they fulfilled the necessary conditions, be awarded this medal.
6. Service in the United Kingdom Forces in West Africa, Palestine and India would count for the award of this medal.
Awarded for the qualifying time required depending on the area served is: UK - 1080 days, Overseas non-operational - 360 days, Overseas non-operational in an area deemed to be closely threatened or subject to air attack -180 days service in WW2. Awarded to recognise both military and some types of civilian service.
The France and Germany Star is a military campaign medal, instituted by the United Kingdom in May 1945 for award to subjects of the British Commonwealth who served in the Second World War, specifically for service in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands or Germany and adjacent sea areas between 6 June 1944 and 8 May 1945.
One clasp, the Atlantic Clasp, was instituted to be worn on the medal ribbon.
