Notre Dame - Rebuild The Hope - Tribute by Daniel Arrhakis (2019)
This is a sad day and moment for the entire world ...
In a Europe divided by discord and shrouded in the divisive shadows of uncertainty, this is the time to remember what unites us as a society and the time to rebuild a humanist Europe in which the values of Love, Friendship and Fraternity can once again illuminate our hearts.
This is my heartfelt tribute to the French People and to my French friends for the loss of one of the most iconic places of worship in the Catholic Church but also of world architecture and art.
Let hope be rebuilt on the ashes of memory with the will to build a better and more tolerant world ... a new Cathedral of Notre Dame !

Salamanca's Plaza Mayor was constructed between 1729 and 1755. Not only is it one of the city's most beautiful locales, but it is also considered among the most beautiful plazas in all of Spain. Its Baroque style architecture of the 18th century, includes Spanish decorations of cut tablets, equilateral arches and four levels. Much of the daily and night life of Salamanca takes place in the Plaza Mayor.
The church was erected in 1528-1532. It is a masterpiece of world architecture and the first stone tent temple in Russia. The building is a part of the complex of Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. World Heritage of UNESCO.

The unique building, with its five-tier audience hall, enormous stage, Tsar’s lobby and the splendid façade which is one of the symbols of Saint Petersburg, is included into the world architectural treasures list protected by UNESCO. It was established by a special order of the Senate and signed on August, 30 1756, by Peter the Great’s daughter, Empress Elizabeth.
The Saint-Petersburg Tchaikovsky Ballet Theater's presentation of the most loved and mesmerizing of classical ballets, "Swan Lake," at the legendary Alexandrinsky Theatre (the Russian State Academic A.S. Pushkin Drama Theatre) was, for us, a truly unforgettable experience!
Without doubt, the Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful buildings ever built. The impeccable stone work, the shape of the structure, the way light radiates off it ivory coloured surfaces all make for one incredible building. Once observed by ones own eyes, it is easy to understand why this amazing building has been designated one of the seven wonders of the world. Photographs, including this one, don't even begin to accurately convey its true grandeur and magnificence.
Constructed in 1927, the FitzGerald Building at No 150 College St on The University Of Toronto campus was once called The School Of Hygiene and has been home to The Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dentistry. It was a major producer of insulin until 1969. The building was designated a Heritage Property by The City of Toronto in 2003.

The Strip District is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the United States. It is a one-half square mile area of land northeast of the central business district bordered to the north by the Allegheny River and to the south by portions of the Hill District. The Strip District runs between 11th and 33rd Streets and includes three main thoroughfares — Smallman St., Penn Ave., and Liberty Ave. — as well as various side streets.
In the early 19th century, the Strip District was home to many mills and factories as its location along the Allegheny River made for easy transportation of goods and shipping of raw materials. It was the home of the Fort Pitt Foundry, source of large cannon before and during the American Civil War, including a 20-inch (510 mm) bore Rodman Gun. Early tenants of the Strip District included U.S. Steel, Westinghouse, The Pittsburgh Reduction Company (ALCOA), and later The H.J. Heinz Company, famous ketchup and condiment manufacturer.
The shipping infrastructure built around the manufacturing companies naturally lead to an increase in other types of merchants setting up shop in the Strip. By the early 20th century the Strip District became a vibrant network of wholesalers—mostly fresh produce, meat, and poultry dealers. Soon auction houses rose around the wholesale warehouses and many restaurants and grocery stores were built to feed hungry shift workers at any hour of the day. By the 1920s The Strip District was the economic center of Pittsburgh.
In the mid-to-late 20th century fewer of the Strip's products were being shipped by rail and boat, causing many produce sellers and wholesalers to leave the area for other space with easier access to highways or where there was more land available for expansion. Today in the Strip District there are still several wholesalers and produce dealers, but some estimates say more than 80% of the produce industry left the area—as have the manufacturing plants and mills. Today many of the abandoned warehouses have been renovated into small specialty shops, restaurants, nightclubs, and bars. The historic St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, a landmark built in the ornate Polish Cathedral style in 1891, lies in the heart of the Strip District, bringing a touch of Old World architecture.
The area has developed into a historic market district with many ethnic food purveyors, some art studios, antique dealers, unique boutiques and other such businesses setting up shop where trains once delivered produce by the ton. The Strip District comes alive primarily on weekends during the summer months when street vendors are selling their wares, the open-air farmer's markets are in full swing, and party-goers sit outside and enjoy a drink.
The area has seen interest by residential developers recently, as old factory and warehouse buildings are being transformed into apartments and lofts. Examples include the Armstrong Cork Factory, Brake House Lofts and now the Otto Milk Building. A mixed-use tower is planned for the Ayoob fruit warehouse site.
The Kurilpa Bridge (originally known as the Tank Street Bridge) is a pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Brisbane River in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The bridge connects Kurilpa Point in South Brisbane to Tank Street in the Brisbane central business district. In 2011, the bridge was judged World Transport Building of the Year at the World Architecture Festival.
Baulderstone Queensland Pty Ltd constructed the bridge and the company’s design team included Cox Rayner Architects and Arup Engineers. The bridge was opened on 4 October 2009 by Queensland Premier Anna Bligh.
Kurilpa Bridge is the world’s largest hybrid tensegrity bridge. Only the horizontal spars conform to tensegrity principles.
A public competition was held to decide on a new name for the bridge. On 23 November 2008 it was announced that the winning entry was Kurilpa Bridge. The name reflects the Australian Aboriginal word for the South Brisbane and West End area, and means "place for water rats".
In the late evening light I had a great sky above a fantastic castle from the time of Moorish rule.Birthplace of the famous Roman emperor Theodosius the Great. With a doubt, the most outstanding feature of the town is its castle, one of the best-preserved in Spain.
The Mudejar castle of Coca is considered to be one of the finest examples of brick military architecture. It was ordered to be built at the end of the 15th century by Archbishop Don Alonso de Fonseca, during the reign of Enrique IV of Castile. It has two areas with a square plan, flanked at the corners by polygonal towers, one of them the Keep. It possesses richly-decorated walls distributed around a large Renaissance courtyard and is surrounded by a deep moat. Also worth a visit are the remains of the wal

Groothandelsgebouw Rotterdam
It was one of the first post-WW2 buildings, completed in 1953, after the heavily and devastating bombings of 1940.
It was one of the first buildings, if not the first.., in which various companies could be located.
The Groothandelsgebouw today is still buzzing with activity.
When she was young, my mother worked in this modern building, which she was very proud of.
The Groothandelsgebouw has 5 entrances.
In one of the big entrances I'd see these elevator doors with the time above it.

A new building for innovation and entrepreneurship, called Kuggen, is built on Lindholmsplatsen in Gothenburg. Designed by architect Gert Wingårdh, the five-storey building is round and reminiscent of a sprocket. Construction started in October 2010 and was finished in March 2011.
Kuggen has already won awards. The international real estate summit MIPIM arranged annually in Cannes, gave Kuggen an award in the Sustainable Buildings class, and the project was selected as one of two out of 300 to receive Future Projects Awards.
Kuggen was also one of the nominated contestants in the World Architecture Festival, Barcelona, in the category "Learning".
On the second floor there is a walkway to the buildings on Lindholmspiren in one direction and to the Jupiter building on Campus Lindholmen in the other. The building grows outward the higher you go, and will house facilities for business and research.
