I was fortunate enough to see a number of reticulated giraffes when I was in northern Kenya last month. With only about 15 000 animals left in the wild, these are rare animals that can only be found in northern Kenyan parks like Ol Pejeta and Samburu. This particular animal was on the move in the early evening.

I told Cleo to go out in the garden and work on her fitness. She got up from her bed, went out of the backdoor and down the stairs and flopped herself onto the lawn.
Me: Cleo .... haven't we agreed that it's time for your exercise ?
Cleo: I AM exercising !
Me: You don't ! Exercise means that you are supposed to move.
Cleo: I'm moving my eyes .... and my whiskers.
Me: That's ridiculous, Cleo ! You won't lose any weight by moving your whiskers. Get up and jog around the garden !
Cleo: Nope. I'm on a diet and that means that I'm too weak to jog around the garden. You need a certain energy input for physical exercise, you know ! Your car doesn't drive without fuel either.
Me: You still get enough to eat, Cleo, don't be such a drama queen !
Cleo: Enough ??? This morning I needed a magnifying glass to find the kibble in my food bowl ! And now leave me alone and let me continue with my ..... exercise.

Right before the run starts and right after the stretch completes is the perfect time to figure out what sort of music you are going to listen to while you run. I am wondering what the final decision was.
The forest can be such a magical place. Filled with various paths and treasures to delight most any soul. We recently trekked through Hidden Groves with family and enjoyed our walk. A gratifying trek with an ever changing temperature, we dressed to keep warm, and our activity prevented us from becoming too cold. In all, just what the doctor ordered in terms of exercise in the guise of outdoor activity.
In addition to our physical engagement, my camera also got a bit of a workout. It however sees the forest in a moderately different way. The sensor picks up on the temperature changes and manifests that in the form of different colours. I do my best to tell a story through my images while my camera picks up on many aberrations that my eyes can not detect. The result is often pleasing and sometimes a surprise.
