Part of the Duvet Project, finally finished after a 6-month hiatus for Christmas embroidery projects and work work work.

Design is Geisha with Fan (a tattoo design) by Kim-Ahn Nguyen Art. From a card I purchased on Etsy: <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/kimanh?ref=ss_profile...; embroidered on the duvet with the artist's permission.

That's a 10-inch hoop (for scale).

I'm not sure how I feel about my color choices - I may rip something out and do over. I feel I may have done Sunny Buick's artwork an injustice.

... having a closer look at my compass showed that I can attach my cutting knife to it. Circle Tessellations here I come. Thanks to Robin for inspiration and diagrams on how to grid a circle.

I bought this pair of compasses for Origami purposes. Chose this one mainly for the thing, you see still in the box which makes it possible to draw large circles.

An alarm which I very nearly slept through had me 25 minutes behind track, a quick check of weather satellite pictures on my iPad and a glance out of the window into the semi darkness had me dashing downstairs. I had expected to be able to go back to bed but the easterly moving overnight band of cloud had slowed up so that there would be cloud overhead but it would be clearer at the easterly horizon. A mad dash through Lyndhurst was all the more excruciating with a pinky purple glow already coming through the passenger window. I leapt the roadside barriers at Ober Water only 15 minutes before sunrise.

I am leading a workshop called "The Book Artist as an explorer" and as a result I have discovered some treasures which have been hidden from view for a while.

I am now inspired to carry on with some work which has been left unfinished for some time

This is some sea glass collected on the beaches of Orkney and Shetland.
