This photograph was taken at the Beechworth Honey Shop in Beechworth Victoria, Australia. This hive was behind glass and there was a pipe going from the hive through the shop to the outside world so the bees could come and go.
These images are from my shoot today at a brick factory. All these workers have been with the company for over 25 years. Doing anything for 25 years gets my respect!
Etienne Rey (1789-1867) was a French painter. He was one of the first professors at the École des Beaux-Arts of Lyon, as well as director of the Vienna Museum and School of Fine Arts. An excellent teacher, he published a manual on the art of encaustic painting and was member of several societies of artists. Rey travelled to the East at an advanced age, in 1843, in the company of his co-worker painter Α. Chenavard and architect J.M. Dalgabio. They started out from Marseilles, arrived in Greece by way of Italy and Malta, and toured Greece, Asia Minor and part of Egypt during five months.
Rey's engravings, which show subjects from Athens during Otto's reign, and images from the Peloponnese, Central Greece, Syros, Istanbul, the Troad and Smyrna area, were published approximantely twenty years after his voyage, because Rey wished to lithograph his original drawings himself. He died before his works could be published. The plates are accompanied by side notes on the journey, in the style of diary entries. The coloured engravings which show the monuments rather resemble watercolours.

Chenavard ve mimar J.M. Dalgabio ile birlikte Doğu'ya seyahat eder. Marsilya'dan yola çıkarlar, İtalya ve Malta'dan geçip beş ay boyunca Yunanistan, Anadolu ve kısa bir süre için Mısır'ı ziyaret ederler.
Kral Otto dönemi Atina'sından çeşitli konular, Peloponez, Rumeli, Siros adası, İstanbul, Truva ve İzmir yörelerinden görünümler Rey'in yolculuğundan 20 yıla yakın bir süre sonra yayınlanır. Bunun nedeni Rey'in kendi eskizlerinin gravürlerini kendisinin kazımak istemesidir. Ancak Rey yapıtlarının basılmış halini göremeden ölür. Yolculukla ilgili bilgiler günlük misali notlar biçiminde sayfa kenarında gravürlere eşlik etmekte. Sonradan renklendirilmiş olan gravürler, özellikle tarihî anıtları görüntüleyenler, suluboya resimleri andırmaktadır.

Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park is part of the awkwardly-named UNESCO World Heritage Site: “Historic Town of Sukhothai and Associated Historic Towns” which, as I have mentioned before, includes Sukhothai itself, Sukhothai North and Si Sachanalai.

Walmart employees picket outside of the Walmart store on Crenshaw Blvd in Los Angeles California on Black Friday November 29, 2013. The employees accuse Walmart of continued unlawful retaliation against workers who speak out for change at the company. Some of the striking workers say that when they have come forward to call on Walmart to address issues with scheduling, wages, benefits and above all else, respect in the work place, Walmart has reacted by retaliating against them.
We stopped on the outskirts of Riyadh to replace my tire. Few British or Americans must top in this area, as we caused quite a stir. Many of the workers, from Afghanistan, Yemen and Pakistan, were keen to have their photograph taken.
Drive to Mongar from Bumthang, Bhutan. Day 11, Guides: Zangley/Nala. This was an unplanned stop. I'm always interested in lifestyle photos, and I couldn't help but ask my driver/guide to stop after I spotted these cornfield workers along the side of the road. I was a little apprehensive at first, knowing that they needed to work. But they quickly welcomed me and my wife, and replied that taking photos was a "perfect excuse for a break." We took some photos for ourselves, and then took some Fuji Instax photos to give to the workers. It turned out to be a fantastic stop and a wonderful exchange of culture. Even today, this photo brings a smile to my face. A special thank you to Zangley for translating and helping to setup this unforgettable cultural exchange.
