Our theme at Take a Word this week is EGGS and that made me think that somewhere in the world the temperature will be hot enough to fry eggs ... but it's not here in Yorkshire ... today we have sunshine but a cold and biting wind. Still it did give me food for thought!

All the photos I present were taken in the town of Taormina (Sicily);
I made photos related to "street photography";
I photographed people who, for the most part, I had never met before, I thank them for their sympathy and availability;
I tried to capture the essence of minimal photographic stories, collected walking down the street ... in search of fleeting moments ...
I met a lady no longer young, who told me that, when she was seven years old, she met the bandit Giuliano (!) on Mount Ziretto (a mountain that is located above Taormina, in the territory of Castelmola), in telling she looked up and pointed at him, it seemed she was seeing him at that precise moment ....! (ah! if only I had had a special camera to capture the images that at that moment were resurfacing in the mind of that very nice lady ....!), she described it and ... she saw it (!): if she remembers it tall, handsome man, boots that reached mid-leg, rifle over his shoulder ....! and then the lady added: of course, I didn't know who that man was, they told me this afterwards ....! I photographed what I believe was a small advertising shoot, thanks to the availability of the photographer and the models (thank you for giving me some of their precious time ..!).
For some photographs I used a particular photographic technique at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension, with photos characterized by being moved because the exposure times were deliberately lengthened, they are confused -focused-imprecise-undecided ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encloses this photographic genre with a single word is "blur", these images were thus created during the shooting phase, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production.

Tutte le foto che presento sono state realizzate nella cittadina di Taormina (Sicilia);
ho realizzato foto riconducibili alla “street photography”;
ho fotografato persone che, per la maggior parte, non avevo mai incontrato prima, le ringrazio per la loro simpatia e disponibilità;
ho cercato di cogliere al volo l’essenza di storie fotografiche minime, raccolte camminando per la strada ... alla ricerca di attimi fugaci s-fuggenti ... ho incontrato una signora non più giovane, che mi ha raccontato che, quando aveva l'età di sette anni, incontrò il bandito Giuliano (!) sul monte Ziretto (un monte che si trova sopra Taormina, nel territorio di Castelmola), nel raccontare lei guardava in alto e lo indicava, sembrava lo stesse vedendo in quel preciso momento....! (ah! se solo io avessi avuto una macchina fotografare speciale per catturare le immagini che in quel momento andavano riaffiorando nella mente di quella simpaticissima signora....!), lo descriveva e...lo vedeva (!): se lo ricorda alto, un bell'uomo, gli stivali che arrivavano a metà gamba, il fucile in spalla....! e poi la signora aggiunse: certo, io non sapevo chi fosse quell'uomo, questo me lo hanno detto dopo....! Ho fotografato quello che credo fosse un piccolo shooting pubblicitario, grazie alla disponibilità della fotografa e delle modelle (le ringrazio per avermi concesso un pò del loro prezioso tempo..!).
Ho utilizzato per alcune fotografie una tecnica fotografica particolare al momento dello scatto, che oltre a catturare lo spazio circostante, ha "inserito" anche una dimensione temporale, con foto caratterizzate dall’essere mosse poiché volutamente sono stati allungati i tempi di esposizione, sono confuse-sfocate-imprecise-indecise...il termine anglosassone che racchiude con una sola parola questo genere fotografico è "blur", queste immagini sono state così realizzate in fase di scatto, e non come un effetto creato successivamente, a posteriori, in fase di post-produzione.

Jefa: Have a heart, guys. She was up all night working on her novel. Looks like she might have been looking for nerd in the Rodale's. And there we find her, between neologism and nerve.
Ginger: Is nerd a neologism then?
Jefa: Yeah, it goes back to the 50's at least in a Dr Seuss book. I've had this book for nearly 40 years and it's not here, but it isn't a dictionary. Nerdism is gaining a whole new respect these days. I'm proud to be one.

Ochil Hills (Scottish Gaelic: Monadh Ochail - from a Celtic word root, compare Old Welsh uchel meaning 'high') is a range of hills in Scotland north of the Forth valley bordered by the towns of Stirling, Alloa, Kinross, Auchterarder and Perth. The only major roads crossing the hills pass through Glen Devon/Glen Eagles and Glenfarg, the latter now largely replaced except for local traffic by the M90 Edinburgh-Perth motorway cutting through the eastern foothills. The hills are part of a Devonian lava extrusion whose appearance today is largely due to the Ochil Fault which results in the southern face of the hills forming an escarpment. The plateau is undulating with no prominent peak, the highest point being Ben Cleuch at 721 m The south-flowing burns have cut deep ravines including Dollar Glen, Silver Glen and Alva Glen, often only passable with the aid of wooden walkways. Historically, the hills, combined with the town being built at the lowest bridge-point on the River Forth, led to Stirling's importance as a main gateway to the Highlands. They also acted as a boundary to the Kingdom of Fife. Castle Campbell was built at the head of Dollar Glen in the late 15th century (an earlier castle on the site being called "Castle Gloom") mainly as a very visible symbol of the Campbell domination of the area. Sheriffmuir, the site of the 1715 battle of the Jacobite rising is on the northern slopes of the hills. In the early Industrial Revolution, several mill towns such as Tillicoultry, Alva and Menstrie (the Hillfoots Villages) grew up in the shadow of the Ochils to tap the water power. Alloa (Scottish Gaelic: Alamhagh, possibly meaning "rock plain") is a town in Clackmannanshire in the Central Lowlands of Scotland, on the north bank of the Firth of Forth close to the foot of the Ochil Hills 5.5 miles (8.9 km) east of Stirling and 7.9 miles (12.7 km) north of Falkirk. The town, formerly a burgh of barony, is the administrative centre of Clackmannanshire council. The economy relied heavily on trade through its port with mainland Europe, but competition from modern ports saw it close in 1970. The economy is now centred on retail and leisure after the closure of major industries; only one brewer and one glassmaker survive today. Alloa had a population of 18,989 at the 2001 census. Sir Robert Erskine was granted the lands of Alloa and its environs in 1368 for services to King David II and he and his descendants were good stewards, developing the estates and innovating. The Earl of Mar owned many of the coal mines, and Robert Bald, a local mining engineer, was contracted to provide water power from the Gartmorn Dam to operate the mines and other industries. Good water supplies and the availability of barley from the carselands encouraged George Younger to set up a brewery in the 1760s and he was soon followed by others. Alloa became one of Scotland's premier brewing centres. Unfortunately, the 6th Earl of Mar, who oversaw many far-reaching developments including substantial harbour improvements, a customs house and the building of the Gartmorn Dam, was forced to flee the country and forfeit his lands after disastrously backing the Jacobite cause in 1715. However, his brother was allowed to purchase the forfeited lands and future generations continued the tradition of creative industry by launching a glass-works in 1750 and laying one of Scotland's earliest railways (a waggonway) from the Sauchie mines to down to the harbour in around 1766. Before 1775, the colliers were attached to the properties in which they were born and were virtual serfs or slaves, supported by the master. After an Act of Parliament which abolished the system, the colliers could move between collieries at will, and they were supported in their needs by the Alloa Colliers' Fund or Friendly Society which was founded in 1775. Traces of the waggonway and the Gartmorn Dam can still be seen today, and although the dam is no longer used for energy production or water supply, it is well used for fishing and leisure purposes. The Clackmannashire Library was founded at Alloa in 1797 and it contained upwards of 1500 volumes. After the improvements were made to the harbour during the 18th century, Alloa thrived as a river port through which the products of Glasgow manufacture were exported to continental Europe. Het huisvuil word in de grachten van Utrecht opgehaald door een boot namens de gemeente.
Ook worden de horeca bedrijven en andere bedrijven voorzien van goederen en drank ect. per boot via de grachten.
Dit heeft allemaal te maken met de gewelven die onder de straat liggen.
Door het zware gewicht van de vrachtwagens,is de gemeente bang dat de gewelven onder de straat de enorme druk niet kunnen dragen.
Dit geeft wel een mooi schouwspel...

The garbage is collected in the canals of Utrecht by a boat on behalf of the municipality.
The catering companies and other companies are also supplied with goods and beverages. by boat via the canals.
This all has to do with the vaults that lie under the street.
Due to the heavy weight of the trucks, the municipality is afraid that the vaults under the street cannot bear the enormous pressure.
This gives a nice spectacle ...

Part of Jill's birthday present to me was this print of one of our Mercedes Ambulances made up from words that Jill had chosen to reflect something about me, my character, my likes etc..
Very clever indeed and as you move further away from it the more the shape/form of the ambulance takes over.
