The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights CL/CR. They were fired in Manual mode at ⅛ power (CL) and 1⁄16 power (CR) through 24" gridded soft boxes.
The SB900s were triggered by PocketWizard Plus Xs.

Wie man deutlich erkennen kann, sind die Häuser entlang der Hanglage gebaut worden, weil die Enge des Tals keine andere Wahl zulässt. Ausserdem lässt sich über die Schönheit der Architektur streiten, nach dem Krieg fehlte Wohnraum und es wurde kompromisslos drauf los gebaut. Das Ergebnis sieht man heute in allen Stadtteilen.
Die ansehnlichen 3 modernen Gebäude im oberen Bereich gehören der Barmenia-Versicherung.

Apparently that word means the warmth of the sun in the winter. As glorious as that feeling is, it pales in comparison to the delight experienced in witnessing this scene. I have lost count of the innumerable times I have stood here and photographed this landscape and yet simply cannot wait to revisit and recapture magical moments like this for as long as I can.
Also wanted to share the good news I have launched a Winter Wonderland workshop for Yosemite National Park.
Le 2 février 1981, des TGV Sud-Est tout neufs stationnent dans leur nouvel atelier de maintenance à Villeneuve-Saint-Georges. A son origine, ce dépôt s'appelait AMPSE, Ateliers du Matériel de Paris Sud-Est. Des technocrates complicateurs ont trouvé bon d'en changer le nom, pour un autre plus ronflant, le TSEE, Technicentre Sud-Est Européen. Mais il s'agit de la même chose, un atelier d'entretien des TGV, ou même ce qu'on appelait depuis longtemps un dépôt. Mais le mot ne fait plus assez moderne.
La rame de droite est le TGV 10, motrice 23019, mise en service quelques mois plus tôt le 10 juillet 1980.
On February 2, 1981, brand new Sud-Est TGVs were parked in their new maintenance workshop at Villeneuve-Saint-Georges. Originally, this depot was called AMPSE, Ateliers du Matériel de Paris Sud-Est. Some scheming technocrats saw fit to change the name to something more snooty, the TSEE, Technicentre Sud-Est Européen. But it's the same thing, a TGV maintenance workshop, or even what has long been called simply a depot. But the word no longer sounds modern enough.
The train on the right is TGV 10, engine 23019, put into service a few months earlier on July 10th 1980.
Het nieuwe jaar begon niet alleen met zeer matige weersomstandigheden maar ook met een persoonlijke tegenslag die uiteindelijk ruim een maand de tijd vroeg om weer wat richting een positief vooruitzicht om te buigen. Dit maakt dan vanzelfsprekend dat ook een hobby even naar de achtergrond verdwijnt al was ik me er al wel een aantal weken bewust van dat er op zondagen iets in de regio reed wat mijn aandacht toch maar eens moest gaan krijgen. Waar Crossrail namelijk hoofdzakelijk de door België Montzenroute verkiest voor de meerderheid van hun containertreinen lijkt de zondagse slag van de Mortara-shuttle steeds door Nederland geleid te worden en daarbij steeds te rijden met een Class 66. Met het nu opdoen van enige kennis vooraf kon ik nét genoeg ruimte in mijn agenda plannen om in goed gezelschap de daad bij het woord te voegen.
De Mortara-shuttle bleek al snel de enige interessante trein te zijn aangezien onderweg overal meldingen opdoken van de door Nederland kruisende trein. Het werd daarmee eenvoudig in te schatten wanneer het tot een treffen zou komen en werd gekozen voor nagenoeg de grens tussen Nederland en België. Hier aangekomen ontdekte ik een recent geplaatst paaltje wat toch wel genoemd hinderlijk in beeld geplaatst is. Om echter met de zonstanden en de beschikbare tijd geen risico te nemen werd dit voor lief genomen en bleek de trein bovendien de oostelijke gemeentegrens van Roosendaal al bereikt te hebben. Zoals verwacht enkele minuutjes voorafgaand aan het vertrek van de S32 naar Puurs toonde het Belgische inrijsein veilig wat als duidelijke aanwijzing genomen kon worden dat ons doel in aantocht was. Enkele minuutjes later gevolgd door het sluiten van de overweg en het passeren van de Crossrail DE 6312 als aanvoerder van de volbeladen Mortara-shuttle die als trein 40110 enige tientallen meters verderop het Belgische grondgebied binnen zou rijden. De uiteindelijke bestemming van deze trein betreft de Interface terminal gelegen aan het Kluizendok in Gent.
Macro Mondays and "Printed Word"
I was looking around the house for an old newspaper as I hadn't bought one for quite a while and I came across an edition of "Photography News" which is a free newspaper which can be picked up at certain outlets including Jessops which is still open in the nearby town of Horsham.
Once I had found it I started flicking through the pages to find a word/composition I liked. After locating a section with some words and a photo I noticed a paragraph containing photographic abbreviations and decided to make it a depth of field shot as these abbreviations all seemed to line up together.
Mladé Buky - Kostel sv. Kateřiny
Jungbuch (Mladé Buky) am südöstlichen Rand des Riesengebirges wurde Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts gegründet. Ein Pfarrstelle ist im nachfolgenden Jahrhundert erstmals erwähnt worden und ein gotisches Kirchengebäude kann für das Jahr 1384 nachgewiesen werden. Im Chor und in der Friedhofsmauer blieben Mauerwerksreste aus dieser Zeit bis heute erhalten. Durch den Umbau Friedhofstores, wurde 1559 der separat stehende Glockenturm im Stil der Renaissance geschaffen. Die Kirche selbst wurde bei Umbauten in den Jahren 1777-87 in die heutige Gestalt gebracht.
