At the beginning of my stay in the Valley, the herons were very skittish and as soon as they saw me, they immediately flew away. Then they got used to it and I was able to take pictures of them from a sufficient distance. I have been there several times since spring. I noticed that there are definitely fewer birds there compared to last year.

Samiec w godowej szacie ma intensywnie żółtą głowę oraz brzuch, ubarwienie samicy jest wyraźnie stonowane. Charakterystyczną cechą trznadli jest ich rdzawy kuper.
Trznadla możemy spotkać na terenie całego kraju. Zaraz po skowronku jest najpospolitszym ptakiem terenów otwartych. Do życia wybiera różnorodne obszary, które są dobrze nasłonecznione, będące mozaiką zadrzewień oraz krzewów. Ptaki te unikają miast, często jednak możemy spotkać je w pobliżu wsi. Głównym składnikiem ich diety są nasiona.
Trznadel prowadzi osiadły tryb życia i jest objęty w Polsce ścisłą ochrona gatunkową.
