The heads of the impressive group of fifteen moai, located at Ahu Tongariki on Easter Island.

You can see more pics (from 2000 and 2013) in my Easter Island set.

Hear no evil, See no evil, Speak no evil!

That's what these three pelicans sitting on posts at Redland Bay remind me of:)

A wise old owl lived in an oak

The more he saw the less he spoke

The less he spoke the more he heard....

...Imagine That ?!...:D

A Shamgoma child stares me down. Wise beyond her years, she taught me a few things in the short time I spent with her.

I was hoping for a lovely sunset which didn't happen :(

A wise old owl lived in an oak

The more he saw the less he spoke.

The less he spoke the more he heard...

Why can't we all be like that wise old bird?

Whenever I see owls, I think of this fun quote. This owl was difficult to spot he was so quiet and still hiding behind the branches of the tree. I had to give it my best effort. Hope you like my peek-a-boo shot.

Three stern looking elders occupying front row seats waiting for performance to recommence on stage.

Sikh Heritage Day, Castle Hill Showground, Sydney, Australia (Sunday 2 April 2017)

I thought that I would post one to show the needle hanging down in front of it's face. They are not pine needles though they look like it. We call it an air plant because it just grows anywhere, no dirt needed, just air!

This is the bulletin cover from our " Open Up and Say Ah" series at Four Corners Church.

It is our quest each time we create artwork for a new series to do something we haven't before and this is a perfect example. This cover is truly the advantage of having creative collaboration. We had come up with and shot a series of photos for the cover (see an example HERE) but Wiseacre had this idea swimming in his head. We had talked about it in brainstorming but dismissed it as too gruesome.

He did this image as an experiment but as the staff and I looked at it more, it embodied exactly what we wanted to say. We were about to move into a series on the book of James and the dangers of the mouth...capable of great good and evil. On this week we are looking what wisdom is...when do we hold our tongue...when do we speak.

Yes...this is grotesque. Yes...it is dark. But I can't take my eyes off of it and I hope you can't either. I think literary critic Gilbert Muller on Flannery O'Connor explains the rationale behind this cover best :

"...the grotesque does not function gratuitously, but in order to reveal underlying and essentially theological concepts."

My trusty iMac broke down two weeks ago, got it back today with a new GPU. Catching up will take some time

Having grown up in the South (southern United States), it took a southern writer like Flannery O'Connor to peel the scales from my eyes. She showed me a different vision of spirituality and American belief. Although there are stand alone versions of Wise Blood, the one I read was in this edition, 3 By Flannery O'Connor.

I had the great opportunity of photographing the collection at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center in Mystic, CT. I love Natural History!

The four monkeys are Mizaru, covering his eyes, who sees no evil; Kikazaru, covering his ears, who hears no evil; and Iwazaru, covering his mouth, who speaks no evil. Sometimes there is a fourth monkey depicted with the three others; the last one, Shizaru, symbolizes the principle of "do no evil". He has shown crossing his arms.

This fellow looks ready to confront me, but we did not interact and he continued on his way up the alley.

Shane Byrne on the Be Wiser Ducati Panigale R at Brands Hatch for round 2 of the British Superbike Championship.

Ray Wise at the 2011 Twin Peaks Festival. He complimented me on my Goodfellas t-shirt, & when I asked him what his favourite Scorsese film is, he said he really likes Gangs of New York.

I've watched Gangs of New York over the last year & a half after not having seen it in years, & I've come to love it even more than I did when I was a kid.

We also had a bit of a chat about Bram Stoker's Dracula, as I had asked him if he had a first edition copy since I heard he did.

He is very nice.

“"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense.

Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't.

And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be.

And what it wouldn't be, it would.

You see?”

( From “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll)

This Indian little girl is my niece Aadrika who lives in a kind of wonderland with an enchanted mischievousness.

In this world she meets tigers, little dogs and dragons with amazing powers, some of them dance banghra and sing Bollywood songs, most of the little girls are princesses and they enjoy wearing too much of make-up while eating chocolate ice-creams and sometimes they even have to play hide and seek with a blue rabbit who is asking for a kiss in French as long as his batteries are working...

It is so pleasant to slide in this world of her own and to remember your own childhood.

I took this portrait in Varanasi (Benaras), it was during a summer day, after lunch.

Wise Coaches purchased this Volvo B10M-62 Jonckheere Deauville from Ramblers back in 2013 and it retains their familiar green and black livery when snapped in Brighton this afternoon, 28th November, 2018. It was new to Shearings as M605 ORJ.

these were unfortunately not taken in the wild – iv still had absolutely no luck with owls!

these are taken at the yorkshire animal park and what really surprised me about watching them with their handlers was how much of their personalities shone through, this cheeky little fella kept stopping off in the crowd, and the and when they flew the hobby he buggered off and came back when the crowds had gone!

hope everyone is staying safe!
